Officially this is a 1983 March 83G, but it’s better known as The Lobster thanks to its prominent Red Lobster livery.
The Petersen Automotive Museum offers an in-depth look at this IMSA GTP winner.

I will venture to say that is probably one of the least Iconic liverys in the history of motorsports. I mean it is cool and all but Iconic?
This is Iconic
Googling sais this is the most iconic car livery.
I hope that someday this one gets more traction :-)
This video does nothing to satiate my appetite to paint a large invertebrate crustacean on my challenge car.
Iconic?
Remind me, how many Lobster Edition street cars were made?
JPS used on, Lotus, Cosworth Vega, Firebird Trans-Am, and probably a couple more I missed.
Methinks some writers are trying too hard.
In reply to RichardSIA :
Nah-the JPS was overused to the point of becoming simply common.
Agree with Dean that der truffel jeager von zuffenhausen takes the prize:
The Lobster livery is amazing for how perfectly the car shape lends to the 3D effect of it. My wife is now asking me to figure how well that livery might work on a 280Z enduro car. Certainly not as good... But maybe not all bad either.
I'm really glad to see something OTHER than the same tired old Gulf, Martini, JPS, etc being highlighted for its contributions and given the credit it's due... Perhaps the Grassroots Pedanticsports forum could try showing off the vast wealth of historical racing knowledge by posting more pictures of other underappreciated yet awesome liveries, like the pink pig above, rather than just shilling all of the over-hyped examples that everybody and their mother is already far too familiar with?
"Iconic" does not mean Virtually Unknown.
I may apply the JPS stripes to my Europa, despite it being Blue.

Virtually unknown... Like some peoples ability to appreciate hyperbole?
In reply to aircooled :
This came to mind as well
In reply to Javelin :
Absolutely one of the most known livery's.
Another one that came to mind Is the red and white Marlboro livery seen in F1. Even when advertising of tobacco products was outlawed in some places so they took all the lettering off the cars you still knew exactly what car it was and the sponsor. I bet that you could argue that banning the lettering of the car actually promoted Marlboro brand more than had they let them leave the branding on the car.
It is also interesting that no one has posted up any nascar livery's. There are a bunch there that I think could be considered iconic.

May I suggest the Japanese tiger prawn? Might work well with the wood aero bits..
