I want to get replacement tires for the Kuhmo XS's that I have worn out autoxing the Miata. Can you guide me the most recent comparison of tires in that class. You know, 30% autox, 10 % track, 60% street.
I will probably stick with the 205 50 15 because 1. I have 15 x 7" O.Z. wheels. 2. I notice that I am getting some tire rub on the racing beat sway bars at hard over.
Forum seach only shows stuff from 08-10 and all mags are in Fl while I am in AK.

Uhh I do subscribe, but I here and it's there, so I guess I'll have to wait till the sled dogs make it up here.
Thanks, now I have something to live for, my next issue.
Dunlop zii or bridgestone rivals or hankook rs3.
Cool thanks.
Btw, my wife says it's in the mail, honest....

+1 usual EPS candidates. Rivals are made by BFG though
Also consider Bridgestone RE11(a) although for your use I think the Z2 or Rival will be best.
I noticed that tire rack doesn't have the rs3 in the 205-50-15. But lots of choices already.
The data coming from Hollis suggests that a 195/50 may actually be better than a 205/50 on a 7inch wide rim. If you're rubbing anyway, I'd suggest expanding your search to that size.
Rivals seem to be the top dog at the moment.
Crap, sorry. I was typing with my phone and I either mis-typed or it "fixed it" for me.
BFG Rivals.
Thanks for the fix.

They also say Made in USA on the sidewalls.
Really 195's ? Funny how we all tend to think wider is better.

I believe this only applies to the R1R (which most ST/STS cars are still running on a 7.5" wheel). The 195 R1R has some special-sauce compound that isn't found in the larger tires - that's why everyone runs it.
Ah but I run in SSM thanks to that superkompressor. So Tires don't matter and I am not good enough to worry about FTD.
Thanks

Has anyone ever figured out why Toyo decided to do this for only this size?

upon further research people are finding out that the "pixie" dust special sauce compound is also found on some of the larger tires ... and it's somewhat of a standard practice in tire manufacturing, totally dependent on expected usage ... or so I'm reading (from people like Andy and others)
