Well the MRS or Solstice you don't buy as your DD you buy it as a 2nd car.
I had a 350Z and I hated that even as a primary car daily driver.

I'm in the market for my next weekend toy. Very likely to go towards another 2 seat drop top. Miata (NA or NC), MRS, old Boxster are at the top of the list. Like kanaric said, it's a 2nd car for me, so storage isn't an issue.
I like the Skystice, but to me they're like a supermodel who discovered Twinkies...they were really hot 50lbs ago. Or in the case of the Skystice, 500lbs ago. They're really porky for their size.

Oh for sure, but in every way other than space, my daily driver is a bit more unhinged than the eventual 2zz/6spd MR-S would be.
There's a very good chance i won't have to commute to work anymore, so i'll probably just become a hermit in winter. In which case, i'll probably DD an MR-S much of the time if we get one.
why become a hermit in the winter, a set of snows on a 2zz swapped MR-S on a ribbon of 3-5" of unplowed powder sounds like an excellent time! Bonus if you ever take it up to a venue that offers ice racing.
I like how on both boards I asked this, the one thing that everyone really wanted to talk about was interior space.
How's interior quality? Most Toyotas I've been in have been less than impressive in that department, much more so than Miatas and various Hondas I've driven. Not quite GM bad, but pretty hard-plastic-y and uncomfortable.

Because there isn't hardly any damned storage anywhere else in the car, so the more space you have in the interior, the more "stuff" you can potentially carry.
Personally I find them tragically ugly and a slap to the face after the beautiful 2nd gens. To each their own though, since they don't have to look good to go fast, which they are more than capable of it seems.
My wife has a 2002, it does not have a ton of storage but who cares you have other cars for that. In order to get more storage I took the doors off the rear storage compartments. Also ditch the spare in the front and you get a decent bit of storage in the frunk.
I am going to fabricate a hitch in the rear rebar so I can put a basket in the back for extra storage if I need it for a road trip.
On a side note I am selling a 2000 if you are looking.... I can do better on the price

Got a kid in Miami wanting the Miata. I told him I would deliver if he buys it. If this happens, we may very well work something out. I'd just need a way from Miami to you.

There are shuttle bus type things going from Gainesville to Miami for students fairly regularly. I imagine there are similar things from Miami heading north, or pay $63 for 12 hours on Amtrak.
