What do folks here think about the S550 Mustang GT? The main purpose is to be my daily driver for my 15mile (7mile or so each way) daily commute and occasional autocross plus maybe once a year track day. Is it worth paying more to get the first year S550 over the last year of S197? If I were to get an S550 GTwhat options should I be looking for, performance package and recaro seat? Any known issue with either S197 or S550? If I were to run this in FS what do I need to make it somewhat competitive, sticky tires and big front sway bar?

This will replace my '03 Z06 that's not too comfortable for daily commute (recaro seat with harness, heavy clutch, etc). Would you guys make this switch? The look of S550 has really grown on me.

I believe there was a thread that discussed this already. I know the first step is to toss the Pirellis that these come with. They aren't particularly soft or grippy and literally come apart when pushed hard. Also, the Performance Package comes with a lot of goodies, but it unfortunately has the 3.73:1 gears that aren't conducive to autocrossing. You end up bouncing back and forth between 2nd and 3rd gear a lot. Other than that, the guy who autocrosses one with us, says that it is absolutely a step-up from the S197 chassis.
