Was having truck issues (2010 Tundra 5.7) this weekend, and getting limp mode and codes for knock sensors. After some quick internet searching I came across more than a few people mentioning that the knock sensor harnesses on 5.7 Toyota V8s are apparently covered in delicious rat candy. Rodents hop in, chew up the knock sensor harnesses and the truck responds accordingly.

So I dropped the truck of at Spiker Motorsports this morning and...

Turns out the internet was actually right about something for once.

Apparently it's such a common failure that numerous local auto part stores even stocked the replacement harness. AutoZone had Nacho flavor and O'Reilly had Sparkleberry twist, so we decided it was time for our local rats to have a Tex-Mex fiesta.

The rodents love the soy based insulation. Get some of that Honda rat tape and wrap the harness.

I've been fairly lucky (knocks wood) and haven't had many rodent problems.

I also have like 10 cats in my yard. I guess they eat the rodents?
