Keith, I've got the Jenvey backing plate and large filter. The IAT sensor for the Megasquirt will mount on the backing plate.

The same thing is available for substantially less on Ebay, and that way you aren't supporting a sketchy vendor like Tru.

I didn't have any issues with Tru. They were very friendly when I called them to explain about shipping to a different address. Plus I was a 'need next day UPS RED' kind of situation.

Oooh! Always fun to look at another person's ITB setup.

On my ITB'd car (79 Porsche 924) I've got a vacuum block like that with a vacuum line from each cylinder feeding into a single, larger line and then plugged into one end of the block. I found I still needed a substantial amount of restriction in the MAP line to the ECU to get a steady idle/reading.

I'm currently running MS1Extra in Alpha-N and modified code to run the Spark table (EDIS4 ignition) off of MAP to improve drivability (which it does) so that's why I found the extra restrictor important. MS2 is on my list to do, but now I have to replace the new clutch so the money I earmarked for the upgrade is going there :(

I think I'm going to relocate the restrictor so that it is between the vacuum block and the engine as I'm concerned the fluctuations might be impacting fuel pressure, I'll also add a vacuum canister to improve the power brakes, etc. I've heard that using a fuel filter in the line helps dampen pulses.

Thanks :) That's only to about 4K, there's another 2.5K of rev range left in it to tune (wrings hands, laughs maniacally)

You're welcome. I have to give thanks to the MSExtra forum and Google in general for providing the search results necessary to fill my brain with such wonderful knowledge :)

MIG welding tips make good restrictors and have a thread on one end already. Plus they are cheap and durable. So one could put one tip in each line from the cylinder.

Motorcycle guys use the MIG tips in their DIY carb balancing solutions which are basically 2-4 individual vacuum gauges mounted on a board and hung above the engine, each one connected to a single cylinder. Some use aquarium or small plumbing valves to make them adjustable.

How is that working out for you? Are you experiencing any heat soak issues from the engine heat transferring through the throttles and the backing plate to the IAT sensor?

I've seen some very tidy setups where the IAT sensor was mounted to the air filter backing plate between the intake trumpets like you describe (see pic below) but I've been warned it may cause a problem with heat soak. On my car I'm planning on using a phenolic intake manifold gasket. I just don't want to drill a hole in my backing plate only to realize later the IAT sensor doesn't function well in that location.
