Enjoying his retirement

yep...replica. He ran it in 2007 carrera panamerica rally. Love that he left lettering on it. 2300 cc vw motor with 200+ rwhp and under 1700 lbs...it's quick. He's 6'3" tall...a tight fit

Ha! I came here to say that too.
Now you guys have sent me through the photos several times looking for butcher shop equipment in the photos. I can't seem to find it.
Those 550 replicas look like a lot of fun, and it's even cooler that he's clearly been using it like a real 550 would have been back when they were new.

The red Moto Guzi motorcycle has a large external fly wheel and is often called a bologna slicer.
My next door neighbor also has toys.
His beater/parts getter. 327 with th400 tranny.
His 1937 chevrolet with LS1 on custom chassis. He bought a restored vintage truck just for body. Sold stock 37 chassis and put it on a modern tube frame. 4 wheel disc, IRS, etc.
Neighbor with Beck Spyder sold it to buy something with top and side curtains so his wife would go with. Here's his new toy.
Given the quality of both the 550 spyder and the 356 speedster build (immaculate, beautiful leather interiors, pro built engines, tube frames, flawless paint, etc) I was surprised at how cheap they changed hanbs. $28k for spyder and $30k for 356.
Not chump change, but you damn sure couldn't build them for that.
Now the neighbor with the 37 Chevy truck is into that for about $70,000. Although it's beautiful and flawless, I'd rather have the spider and the Speedster and 12 Grand in my pocket.
I'm in a similar situation with my neighbors. He has a Porsche 911 Turbo and she has a 2015 Audit TT RS as toys. His daily is an Audi S3 and hers is an earlier Audi S3 Avant. On top of that they are both into Road bicycles and are very serious riders. They own several full carbon road bikes that cost more than many cars. At 75 his weekend ride is 70 miles.
My brother is ever worse, 911 GT3, an AMG Merc and a very modified Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for him plus the wife's car.
The good thing for me is they both let me drive their cars!
My brother had a Beck 550 replica. I wasn't impressed but maybe it was that particular one that wasn't a good example. I do love the look and idea them though.
