So I need;
low cost budget around 3K
decent mpg
fun
prefer manual
and the couple that keeps me from my 4th miata
able to carry wife and 2 kids(one still in a full child seat)
able to pull small trailer(total weight under 1500lbs)
Since I'm stationed in Missouri rust is an issue with most cars over 15 years or so. I'm not afraid to wrench and enjoy doing so, but don't have the ability to do much more then parts swapping(no welding/fabbing).
Suggestions? I've had little to no luck finding any good condition 240sx, E30s, or Imprezas.

I have no personal experience but the liability lawyers allow the selling of hitch that can carry 2,000lbs to be sold for an Integra

and a 2,000lbs version for the Saturn as well.

Certainly, that does no mean that either vehicle actually tows well.
First Gen Subaru Impreza 2.5RS. within your budget, can tow just fine and the 4 door is big enough for kids in the back.
Had this one for about 3-4 years. Never had a Subaru before, never will go without one again.
These cars are great in the snow and can haul anything.
Even Christmas Cheer.
Or an apartment full of stuff.
Look harder, you'll find one.
