So my projecr car is in full project status right now until I get some things sorta. I'm going on an epic cross country trip and taking my girlfriends Toyot at the end of the year. I just want a manual car to get me around until then and will be easy to re sell and cost me $0 in maintain from the get go. I got about $2k.
Right, the best civic hatch I can find
You should be able to find a 2000ish Civic coupe or sedan with a manual for that in an afternoon. Should run without any worries.
miata is always the answer

Search for Acura Legends, they trade hands pretty cheap nowadays. Smooth torquey C-series V6s, a pretty fun double-wishbone suspension and ultra-comfortable interiors.

if he wants his GF to break up with him 10% of the way into his "epic cross country road trip"
road trip car does not a miata make.
Old LS400, bulletproof and pretty easy to find under $2000. You may spend a bit more than you were expecting to on gas. No manual option but it will be comfortable.
Miata is the most fun. Early 90s Camry Corolla or civic would be decent choices depending on availability.

Nonsense. I roadtrip my Miata everywhere, take it to TN from NY for a week every year. Same for my friend and his now ex-wife (It wasn't the roadtrip or the Miata that caused the divorce). Or look at cmcgregor's epic Miata roadtrip.

I like the ls400 idea. Thats my plan for similar use.
Saturn and just keep some oil in the trunk?
I'm in Raleigh if anyone sees anything on CL. I was searching manual 3$k thinking I could offer $2k
I could also put $2k into my lt1 swapped blazer but I'll prob see less of a return on that then buying a Honda...
I wasn't expecting to sell it for another month or so, but do a fly & drive to Nashville and buy my civic hybrid?
LS400, Civic, Accord, probably could get a 1zz Celica of early oughts for 2k, P71, Q45, maybe even a e36 318i
I think a manual is a requirement as I've come full circle and miss rowing my gears.
That's fair enough. I really wouldn't discount the 98-02 Accord. Manuals are plenty, you don't pay the Civic tax, and they are great DDs. I had one with 225K on the clock and with the exception of needing to top off the oil every few months, I had zero problems with it.
1992-2001 Toyota Camry. Things are cockroaches.
I could prob get away wit ha 200k+ mile honda as I'll only prob need it for 3k miles.

This sturn looks clean
We just bought a '98 Altima stick for the teenagers' first car. $1,200 and appears to only need a motor mount and sway bar bushings.
I like those goofy elantra gt coupes or accent? forgot which one is the coupe hatch. Someone here bought a white one for their daughter and it was oddly fun looking.
Roof rack, mud flap and we good?

I like those Hyundais for basic transportation.
For other good buys search the words Infiniti and Infinity.
The i30 and G20 were offered with manual trans. Both fwd.
Minivan and see you in Gainesville
Yea, having trouble finding a accent hatch manual in my area..
Guys found my car just walking around. Knew I would
