^That might be an unplugger once in closed loop too in order to see what happens.
Well I finally have a full day to work on this again. Unplugged the O2 sensors and ran the car. Same outcome, once hot it dies.
I can restart but it lopes bad and smells rich. It shuts off quickly also. I am going to go through the EGR/Evap system. I am trying to recall as to in what order I replaced what parts before the issue appeared.
I believe it was in this order, plugs/wires, PVC and EGR valve and fix a few vacuum leaks and replace intake elbow. Then issue appeared. The old EGR valve was plugged, the intake boot was severely cracked and chunks missing, vacuum lines cracked.
Will get a vacuum gauge and start there.
Some things were just not adding up with this issue. Why all of a sudden after fixing all the vacuum leaks and tune-up. And the P0372 code always showing up. I was sitting here doing obscure searches and came across a thread on an Impala ss forum from 2010 that had the same issue as I am dealing with.
The optispark is vented and will cause a P0372 issue when not being vented properly. The check valve or air flow reduction filter is plugged. I checked mine and sure enough, the air flow reduction filter is plugged and the check valve is not working properly.
Searched and found on Ebay. Ordered a optispark vacuum hose assembly at triple the cost of what they originally cost from GM. Will receive March 4th.
Been there, done that (non Optispark tho). Not a good place to be. But hey, it looks like you've diagnosed the issue and have replacement parts on the way. Fingers crossed...
Been there, done that, with a 97 Firebird Formula. At least yours will restart and run for a bit, had to call a rollback for mine for a trip to the dealer. Optispark (shattered optical sensor). Keep the faith brother, good luck.
Taking 1/3 of the front of the engine accessories off to get to the opti is a known expectation along with all the confined working areas.
It's the voices, "since you're this far.......", "it's all still factory stock, why?" "you got 4 empty credit cards." they don't stop.
For those who were playing along it is now up and running with no codes or service engine light. I guess I was hoping it was something other than the Opti-spark failing. Running better than it has since I have owned it.
Will drive it around for a few weeks before I begin the slow transformation to HPDE toy.
Thanks for the advise and input.
