Any Mercedes gurus in the house?
We have this 1991 420SEL that we're prepping for the Auburndale Speedway Night of Destruction.
I'm trying to figure out if it has an inertia crash impact switch, and if so where would it be located? If so equipped does it cut off the fuel pump, ignition, or? We need to bypass it so we don't get knocked out with the first hard hit. Thanks very much for any info.
The beast in question:

I have nothing useful to add but you should drive the car dressed as a third world dictator and have small flags on the front fenders.

Rock Auto lists one, but it's an AC Delco part, and I do not know that I trust what I'm seeing on the site.
In reply to Mike:
Yep I saw that too, and google has lots of contradictory info as well. Oh well I guess we'll find out the hard way. Thanks for the info
A W126? Oh man, that thing is going to be unstoppable.
Until something German and electrical decides to quit.
I would just wire the electric fuel pump to a switch right to the battery. Easy peasy, Germaneesy.

THIS! Someday I want to own a big 70's or 80's Benz and it will definitely get 3rd World country dictator flags on the front fenders.

Even better, put tiny rebel flags on the fenders to really piss off and confuse people.
In reply to volvoclearinghouse: Yep, I'm gonna try to work on that on Friday
Oh god, I'll take the interior, the wheels, the lights...
Here's my list:
Electrical Connector for the heater monovalve (on the firewall next to the ECU) my plastic connector broke and I need the top half.
Passenger side power mirror
Power mirror switch
Vacuum pods behind the dash (good to have spares)
Power antenna if it works.
Left rear door lock actuator and connectors (I know I have a leak in the door, but not sure where.)
Driver's airbag (mine has a slight crack in the vinyl, so unless yours looks perfect don't bother).
Nixon, you probably want this rear end. Later W126s (at least the diesels) have more highway-friendly ratios that really help a 300SD.
I'm fairly local, so let me know if you have any of this stuff, and if I can afford it.
Heck, if the car's heat works, I'll buy the monovalve, too. This W126 has been pretty reliable, but the last one scarred me enough to make me want spares.
You can pick whatever you guys need off the car free of charge once we're done with it Saturday night, there's only one issue which is time. The car MUST be disposed of the following week because:
A: I'm listing my house for sale and obviously my back yard must be Sanford & Son free.
B: I need to get it to the scrap yard to pay the owner the scrap money we promised him.
So basically that leaves this Sunday and a few days early in the work week.
We need "after" pictures from the derby.
Also, if the wheels aren't thrashed I can used them on my W123. I will pay shipping.

So seriously then, what condition is the interior in? Do you plan to take the cladding off of the sides? because I so need that chrome piece that sits just in front of the passenger front door.
Paging MNDSM, MNDSM to the courtesy phone.
Hey guys I'm sorry but I didn't receive any pms because that old email address was no good.
My current email is aeromoto08@aol.com and my number is 863-258-1775
Also on the wheels, they're pretty roached. Corroded and curbed. Id say they aren't with the money to ship
We will need apfteraction repot from the event and video also. Never seen anyone demo a benz before.

wire the ignition and fuel injection straight to the battery, too.. with a push button to start it and a battery cut off switch to shut it off..
Well the event didn't happen. It's been postponed until next Saturday April 9.
Thanks for the advice everyone, and yes we'll get video
