I need something for the Autocross to run on the XJR but have limited choices and basically no money.

I have a set of 15" 205/50 r comps (forgot what brand) that I got a few years ago from a fellow GRMer. They are probably pushing 10 years old but are new and in my hands. These are too small but they will fit on easy-to-find GM rims that I can likely pull from a pile of wheels that Clem Sparks has.

I have a set of 275/35-18 r comps I got from Stampie last year. However, I don't have 18s that will fit these tires or any real funds to acquire a set.

The 18s are perfect but not likely to have rims to use. The 15s will probably fit over the brakes and are basically free but is it enough tire and 10 years old to bother using over the 225/60-16s all seasons that are on the Jag now...

This actually just turned into a whining session. Sorry...

10-year old 205-series R-comps will still be better than newer 225 all-seasons. Even better if you whip up a batch of home-made traction treatment for them first.

What about having them shaved? A local tire shop has a machine.

I'd still go for the 10-year old R-comps. The 10-year old Hoosiers I had on the Vette for a short period had way more lateral grip than I expected.

Do you have any 18s around at all?  Even if they're a bit narrow, if the 275s will mount, they'll work for this purpose.  And the sidewalls are stiff enough that having them pinched a bit shouldn't be the end of the world.

I have the 18s from last years car that are 5x120mm (jag is 5x120.6/4.75) but the center bore is at least 5mm too small. I am ok spending $60 for wobble nuts but I don't want to cut the centers of my other wheels.

What wheels did the XJR come with?  I thought most of them came with 18s of some form?

The 95 originally had some nice 17x8 but I only have the spare left and am on 98 base model wheels. They are only 16x7.

I might be able to run a little spacer to deal with the center bore issue. If so, then we are good to go.
