I was going to paint my na miata mazda meteor gray but my sister got a mazda 6 in that color and I'm not sure if I want to use it now.
Does any one have any suggestions for a dark metalic gray?

This is probably not going to be helpful....
My paint on my 97 Miata is very sucky right now. It has been resprayed at least once, there is the black printer showing through at spots and when I got it it had a horrible vinyl wrap on. My plan in the next couple weeks is to sand with 220, and 320 and then use spray can Rustolium hammered finish in the darkest color they have which turns out more of a dark grey than black. I did a test run on my trunk lid a while back and it looks fairly decent for a spray job. The hammered finish gives it just a little bit of orange peel, which in my case will help to hide imperfections. I'm just going to be happy to have the car all in one color and looking half decent.
This is a BMW silver gray metallic. Depending on lighting, color of other objects around it, etc, it can show some blue, be more gray than silver, and otherwise shift around a bit. Maybe a little on the light side-- it is relatively heavy on the metallic side.
The metallic gray that came on my 1981 Mazda GLC Sport (my first new car ever) looked good.
Edit: Just found out it was called "Tornado Silver", paint code K8.
I've painted two of my TR8s BMW silver. One is Space Grey Metallic and the other is Silver Grey. I like the Space Grey better. Its a little more anthracite and darker. The Silver Grey is very close but has a little more silver sparkle to it. The silver grey picks up the colors around it. I painted it with an orange air hose and when I came back around the car, I freaked. Then I realized it was just picking up the color of the hose. Must have something to do with the metallic acting like tiny mirrors.
Keith- do you still have pictures of that "retro" Miata you guys did? I thought it looked really sharp.
Not sure what to search for- it was a few years ago.
Audi Nimbus Grey has long been a favorite of mine.
Why the change in color preference? Do you really dislike your sister or something?

Thanks- So that one does not have to cut and paste the Flyin Miata link

If it's the same as my FR-S, it changes color in different light. It's rad.

You dont need the sucky hammer paint. Put that 220 grit on a palm sander and work the bad spots with the fresh paper and the smooth spots with the loaded paper.
If you have a decent compressor, spray the car with rustoleum industrial a (gallon from walmert is $20). Thin it with acetone according to the can. Its self leveling and will hide most imperfections you miss with the sander. The paint from a hvlp gun (hft $14, respirators from gerson $15 while your there) will paint much more and look much better than the rattle cans.
You can tint the color with smaller cans like silver for some metal flakey grey. Just measure the mix ratio so you can repeat.
If you mess up get runs or other you have lot of paint left, or you can wait a week or two and do a cut and buff.
BMW had a color called Urban Green a few years ago. A friend had it on this Z4. I think it'd look great on a Miata.
I'm not sure of the name or years offered but there is a dark grey on the newer gm trucks that looks great.

I think of that color as "Medium Dolphin". It's a really bold yet understated non-metallic color.
The Audi greys are nice. There is a very dark grey that I've seen that has an oily sheen to it that I like a lot, I thought it was called anthracite, but none of the anthracite colored cars in my Google search look right. Either the color doesn't photograph right, or I have the wrong color name.
