I feel that so much. I've lusted after different iron for so long, and then after acquiring it, the realization of reality vs. expectation quickly deflates my desires. Yet the projects I've worked on have been a driving force up until I finish it. I'll get some good drives and a few trips in, then I'm looking to sell and move on to the next.

A hot flat-four in a trike sounds like all kinds of stupid...Me likee!

I'm adding the cross bar behind the beam so I can run those K bars back into the side rails. I had to make the box a little shorter front to rear to clear the equal length tie rods but I can run longer bars for the diagonals. I'm also going to make a front "bumper" that's welded to the front of the clamps. I'm going to run two hoops, one top and one bottom, with a few vertical connector bars between the two. I know these are all somewhat compromises but I'm hoping enough of them will equal an adequate solution. I want the floor to be removable but it will be bolted through either threaded holes or threaded inserts in the bottom of the frame. Lot's of them, about every 6-8 inches on every bar that it touches.

Nothing wrong with that.  For many of us here the joy is in the problem solving and creation.  Once its done you just get that itch to start again.  It used to drive my wife crazy that I'd finish something then sell it but she slowly realized my hobby isnt driving cars, its building them.

I still have a flat 4 in the trike, but just a 1600.  It still does wheel stands way too easily.

Sounds like you are on the right path.  I think you'll find it plenty strong once you've done that.   The bolted beam obviously lends to more flexibility than a welded one (but bolted is still the better way to go in the long run) but I think your plans should more than compensate for it.  Keep up the great work!
