Hah! I have been given the OK to bring home a fully upfitted new Caprice Patrol Pkg car this weekend. This is a demo so it has every blinky strobey flashy light and siren. Very tastefully done in black and white of course. My 9 and 6 year old sons are going to FLIP OUT. We have hung tough through some hard times these last few years so this opportunity to make them giggle is special. BTW, we will be selling Detective cars online to the public within the week. Sooooo wish I could afford the dark gray car with the black wheels. Just a Procharger and manual trans away from real fun...

It won't be two years. These are Detective cars that we are buying back from the agency that purchased them. Dont know how many yet but do know that they are 11s that have not been used. This will be very soon. I will post details (and pics) as soon as they are available.

This. Lesley left us out in the cold the last time she brought home a police special. We need a burnout with the lights flashing.

Did ya ever feel like EVERY ONE was watching you? The black and white lightbar and spotlight equipped Caprice is pretty darn noticeable. I was impressed that one complete dumbass did a last second four lane exit move while I was motoring home, nearly removing the front clip of the car. Soooo tempted to put on the light show but did not. Had to save that for my Sons. They were out front when I pulled up at dusk with every part of the car blinking some color or another. I think Soundgarden was on the radio too. Hah. BTW the car does have launch control and it will make 6 and 9 year old boys snort out body fluids.

Are these coming up for sale yet anywhere.. For non cop agency folks? You know.. Used?

Edit. E36 M3. Thought this was in reference to the new ones..

I don't want a whale, but a (similar to) G8 with a modern V8 with cop suspension might be fun.

I see them on Ebay every once in a while. Have seen any anywhere else. I still want one too.

I drove past a small town Chevy Dealer today and they had a beautiful red Chevy SS sedan out front.
I had no time to stop but I did not realize these are available. How do you get these?

you go inside the building and talk to the nice guy with the huge smile and cheap suit... he will help you figure out a payment that you can afford, then try to sell you a car that has a payment bigger than that..

Wow, $45.7k !
$643 every month for 6 years and $4,500 down.
I really have gotten out of touch with what people really pay for cars.

I know, right?? My last house purchase with 1.09 acres was $51,900. I can't recall ever putting $4500 down on a car FOR THE FULL PURCHASE PRICE. (ok, that's not true, but... yeah. Mindblow)

I really would like this for a salesmen car but the price of the car and fuel knock it way far away. Reality is my Accord, 4-cylinder @ $330/month for 21 more months.

MSRP: $43,475* (All cars have a gas guzzler tax, so pricing is really closer to $46,000 for every single SS)

$1,300 is the GG tax. It is interesting if I build the car on the employee web it lists the $1,300 as on option but doesn't clearly state "GGT".

I heard something on the radio (I think it was NPR) indicating the average sale price for a new car is around $43k and most American families can't afford that based on some standard lending formula that uses % of household income to determine the payment they can afford for 4 year loan. I wasn't paying a lot of attention until the average selling price & then I realized why I haven't been drooling over new cars for a few years. I can't imagine paying $30k for a car, much less north of $40k.

the SS never was a fleet vehicle... the slightly longer (and infinitely cooler) Caprice cop car, however, is a fleet vehicle..
