Two things that haven't been mentioned are:

1) Torque, You can bet the Ecoboost has more down low making it a better daily drive for stop lights and such, in my opinion.

2) Resale, the ecoboost will probably have better resale so breaking even in 100k miles might be more like even in, $500 more out on the ecoboost.

And like I said before, it's a 1.0L. Even when you tune it to make more power, it's still only going to be a 1.0L. You will never make that much power or use all that much fuel, and when you do drive it normally, which will be the HUGE majority of the time, it still gets the excellent low power 1.0L fuel economy.

I don't care what he buys, it's a 4 dr econobox, something I'd never even consider, but strictly for performance AND economy, you won't beat the 1.0L turbo. I've owned two dozen 1.0L turbo cars. Off boost, which is where you are 90% of the time, you still get that killer fuel economy.

Let's see lots of in-town driving. Wants a fun chassis. Spends a lot of time in the car. How about a used 2011 Lexus CT200h?
Handles well, solid car, nice interior, looks good, better city mileage, extremely reliable, regular gas, very low maintenance costs, used cost about $20k.

I have been watching the prices of used ct200h F-sports. It will be a long while before i make a move, but they are very cool cars imo.

Dave, you going to get back into auto-x when you come back to the lower 48?

Havent really heard anything either way about how either engine is for an auto-x ride. Some conjecture about the 1.0 being a good platform.

As I said, you know you want the 1.0 because boosts.

How about aftermarket ecoboosting the 1.6l?

If I do, it'll be in a kart. F125 and dedicated race car FTW

That CT200H actually looks really nice. There's two in Anchorage, both are still ~$30k unfortunately (CPO 2013's). No Lexus dealers here in Fairbanks.
