I find the animosity about the front end interesting. While I haven't always liked Acura front ends, this one looks find to me, and not unlike that of many other supercars. The Ford GT front grille on the other hand looks like the fugly Lexus grills everyone is complaining about. Just shows once again that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah, not too close. I didn't google anything when I made my post.

Who'd have guessed Honda would copy an old Mazda 3 happy grill?

That was my first thought, too. I miss the old days of low front ends with pop-up headlights. Yes, I know they were heavy, complicated, hard on slow pedestrians, etc., but they look so much better than the gaping maw style they like these days.

On the GT, it's largely a matter of proportion. Ford gets it right, Lexus gets it wrong. Also, it is actually quite different from the Lexus crap, when you look at the details. The Ford is simple and purposeful, despite having the same basic move of the outboard slashes on either side of the nose.
The Acura, on the other hand, is just WAY too busy. The Lexi are too. Too much going on - color or material changes, fake openings, weird sculpting - for no discernable purpose. The Ford GT is much cleaner.
Just shows once again that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
True enough. I remember looking through the hottie thread and thinking the same thing on most of the, ahem, items offered there.

Sadly this is what people are asking for in a new Supra as well. It aggravates me to no end.
All of these cars sell on snob appeal. This one, the i8, Tesla, any Lamborghini, lots of others. You just need to appeal to the right group of snobs.

Hey, at least they found a use for all those leftover TL trunks (aka "rear beak"). The new Ford is the hotness though. This one looks ok, but looks like every other supercar out there right now, IMO. Put some rings on the grille and you can call it an Audi. Not nearly as bad as the Lexus though.
Though not like I'll ever be able afford either of them, so kind of a moot point for me, ol.
This post has set me looking through CL to see what old NSX prices look like these days though, lol.
It makes me sad to see Acura continuing the boatload of cosmetic fail that it's been perpetrating for the last decade.
Maybe its just me but it looks like the unwanted child of a Mazda 3 and a Nissan 350z. I will pass.........
I much prefer the old one. MUCH. Timeless. On a sidenote, hooray for the new NSX, because maybe I will be able to finally afford an old one.

I too am not a fan of the chrome beak on this car specifically.
I dislike it in the same way that I dislike supermodels. Kinda generic mid-engine primary lines muddled by a bunch of front end fussiness. However, like a supermodel, the first impression wouldn't keep me from taking a nice long drive....

Flat, cold, and only attractive because of the stigma...Sounds about right.

This. And they need to kill that damned beak with fire. As to this new NSX-- a very poor follow up to an iconic car. Ferrari could have designed the previous one. This one looks like Lexus took the LFA too far.
It's not my absolute favorite design of all time. I think it looks good though. I doubt I could do better.

+1. I don't get all the hate for the front end. Sure, some Acura's have gone too far with that design language, but on this car it's pretty subtle. The profile is well proportioned, and the rear is definitely Acura. In contrast, the Ford GT front end looks like a bottom feeder fish of some kind. It just shows that beauty is in fact in the eye of the beholder. I don't like this car enough to buy it, but I also don't think it's ugly by any means. But I think the best part of this car is going to be it's performance. I want to see what kind of times it can do on a road course.
Who can honestly say that they think this is ugly?
and for comparison:
As much as I liked the original, IMO it looks pretty out dated compared to the new one.
I think this is great! I agree that from the front 3/4 it looks a lot like a new R8 but other than that, I got no complaints. Using electric motors to make part time AWD is awesome. It isn't as busy as you guys are implying. You remember the launch of the Mclaren MP4-12C? Those was said to be bland. This isn't much MORE.
