Both of which are a damn shame.

I agree.
TBH I'd prefer they did something RWD and sporty with a top.
But I'm the 1% who the Answer doesn't work for so that's not surprising.
I would have preferred the S600 or whatever variation we might have received instead of this. There's already an MX-5 out there so I don't know why the market would ask for this as well.

You don't think there's room in that market for anything but one car? I'm not so sure.
In reply to bravenrace:
I don't believe sales of small two-seater only sporty convertibles are ever going to be that large. This might sell but the market just doesn't seem that large to me. Nice to see Honda work on something fun I guess.

Meh. Possibly mid-engine, likely a hybrid. So, exactly like the old S2000, just not.
In reply to NickD:
Nick, that's a 7 month old article. The one linked to in the original post was 2 days ago. Not mid-engined (as behind the driver), and not hybrid.

Its not mid engine persay, but front mid engine, or FMR. Thats how the old S2000 was. Means the engine is mounted behind the front axle, or something like that.

You are correct. It popped up on my newsfeed today so I thought it was recent/relevant. It appears that was incorrect. Sorry.

Yes, I know. That's why I specified that it wasn't mid engined, as in behind the driver.

Now go sit in the corner.

Ooookay.
Sad to read that the S660 (S1000) is unlikely to come here. I was really interested in the S1000 triple cylinder turbo.

the only comparison I can make between the two.. they are both red roadsters

We weep together for that corporate decision.

It's all speculation at this point. Who knows what Honda will actually call the car. It very well could be the S1500 in JDM & Euro markets. If badged as an Acura in the US, it'll probably get some nonsensical three letter designation underscored with some equally pointless "super handling" moniker.
Good point! So, chicken or egg?
I don't remember Mazdas looking like that in 2007 when Acura first teased this look.
I think that they shouldn't have it look so similar to the NSX, it could hurt NSX sales, and makes both of them look a little more boring (probably cost saving reasons) They are likely making it a Miata competitor so they don't have to kill it in 8-10 years.

The AP2 wasn't a S2200. Really, the S2000 came out in 2000. So it should be an S2018 or so.
