Frugal like many of you, I don't really like to spend money. Found this go kart at a yard sale over the weekend and I couldn't resist.
Came with a 2hp Briggs motor set up with direct drive (no clutch). Needs a throttle cable set up and a new drive sprocket. The drum brake also seems to be sticking so that might need some work. Motor seems to run fine.
With an extremely limited budget (let's say $50 - $100) what would you do with this beauty?
It looks like I'm about a month late on the Harbor Freight Honda Clone 6.5hp motors that were going for $65.
I'd also be interested if anyone could point me to more information on who might have made the frame and specifically the drum brake.

Looks like a standard-parts frame! This place has been awesome about helping me restore my Invader kart. I'd highly recommend a 5-6HP motor with a standard slipper clutch and you should be set pretty well. They can probably help you identify the manufacturer as well.
That reminds me, I need to order some gubbins for mine...
holy crap i forgot about clone motor closeout sale. I picked one up back in january for $99 before they were on closeout. problem is I still have a 2nd minibike without a motor.
gonna stop by HF when i drive past it tomorrow

Cheap nitrous kit. 50 shot.
Throw in a little (your definition) model airplane glow plug fuel when you fill it. aka, nitromethane.

I completely forgot they sold that at the hobby store. EXCELLENT.
In reply to twolittlebroncos:
fwiw the new motor they show on the HF website is 212cc. The old one they had was 196cc. maybe negligible but the new one probably does put out a little more power. I have not seen any coupons for the new one just yet.
check out oldminibikes.com
they have a very active forum and maybe you can find some ideas for your kart. They could probably identify exactly what you have if you put up a post in the "what is it?" forum.

thanks for the ideas... I'm going to try to avoid Darwin awards and I don't think the Busa motor is in my budget
oh one more site. I couldnt find it earlier.

Tractor Supply sells a 13.5 HP Briggs and Stratton. Just sayin.
