I'm guessing there is some sort of general understanding that surviving a race is not considered a given.
You have to think that in some of those wrecks, the driver did not walk away.

yeah...fasteners thru the roof sheetmetal makes me think theres something in there keeping the soft bits inside the drivers. But man, theyve got to be a lot softer after a weekend of that level of douchebaggery.
I went to one of the track websites and from reading the results they apparently run-in three-man teams 4 scoring. Must be something like roller derby as to how they figure the winning team. In any event truly insane
I made it like 30 seconds in. Having just had my first 'real' car accident a few days ago and recovering from a moderate concussion, watching that was literally sickening. Made me nauseous to the point were I don't think I'll be finishing my lunch today. Knowing what getting hit feels like now, I don't quite understand why you would intentionally put yourself in a position to get smacked, regardless of how nice or crappy the car you're driving is.
Not that you'd know it from having seen me race but I really prefer motorsports where we try to avoid running into things.
Holy crap I wouldn't do that in an 80s Volvo or MB, let alone a berkeleying Edsel.
I wonder who got decapitated to instate the rule requiring the rear corners of the hood to be covered.
