We're sending the next issue to press tonight, and it checks in at 204 pages. To be honest, it feels good to be back at the 200-page level.
Enjoy.

You guys have so much more actual content than just about every other paper automobile magazine out there.
Wow! Glad to see the advertiser support(and thus the reader's support of the advertisers) to put it together.
And GRM really does seem to have a higher quality of advertisers than any other mag - automotive or otherwise.

IIRC there was mention of the quality of advertisers in GRM a few years old and that a GRM staffer's comment was something to the effect that GRM had no interest in advertising sex enhancement aid and Montana real estate & such.
Good for them.
Cool, buy some stuff--keep the economy moving.
And when you do buy something, make sure you tell them who sent you.

But if you dont teach us, who will? The street?

Or, you could pick up something from our online store

I know I've said this before, but I also appreciate where you guys place the ads. It is really nice to be reading a datsun article, and have the black dragon/wolf creek advertisement right there on the same page....It makes it easy to find a the parts needed to build something similar to the car in the article.

JG and I are working on a special pub for that.

I approve of this message.

I'm glad someone actually notices this. Lots of advertisers are picky about placement—as they should be because it's their money and their business at stake. So we're constantly balancing placing ads relevant to the editorial with competitive separation issues (some advertisers like to maintain distance from their competition). We do our best to serve all our customers, which means both the readers and the advertisers. After all the whole point of the magazine is solidifying the community, which means readers, advertisers, and us.
As for boner enhancements and other non-automotive products, we've accepted ads for "controversial" products in the past. Personally, I believe in the free market and free speech, and if someone wants to sell a legal product that I may not personally endorse, I can choose not to use it.
Having said that, though, I'm very glad that our situation is such that we don't need to go after ad dollars irrelevant to our market, or for products that exist in sensitive contexts. Why court controversy if we don't need to?

GRM and CM are read, reread, saved, and reread.
I got a smoking 2 year $15 R&T deal - I read it once through like the newspaper and recycle it in 1-2 days. Peter Egan is worth the cost.

While we're on that topic, I HATE the way Auto Occasional has tried to turn themselves into a "Lifestyle" magazine. I am interested in hearing Bob Lutz's opinions on cars or jet planes. I don't want to hear about his choice in socks, shoes, watches, or ink pens.
GRM, don't ever do that kind of stuff. The article on Randy Pobst's greasecar was cool. An article on his choice in home furnishings and interior design would be.....well, as boring as watching his paint dry.

Thanks! I haven't subscribed in a while and I can never find GRM on stands up here!
I admit, I signed up for the free copy and never subscribed. But, I have an excuse- I'm in the process of a 550 mile across-3-state-lines move, and don't really have a permanent address right now. As soon as I set up shop somewhere here in MD, I promise I'll be ordering a subscription- multi-year if I can afford it after settlement!

For those of you who are moving or planning to move: Changing your address is super-easy. Just call our subscription department toll-free at 877-677-6878, and the change is made asap. Plus, as a subscriber, you get access to the online version so you can read it where ever you are. We also have Apple Newsstand, Kindle and Android versions, too. Are we high-tech or what?
Also, if you subscribe on an iPad, the subscription is wherever your tablet is, and it's a bit cheaper, too.

Crazy, huh?
It's been interesting watching it all grow. When I started here, we produced a 64-page mag every two months.
Today we do a 200-ish-page of Grassroots Motorsports plus Classic Motorsports, our sister pub. Then there's the online versions: browser-based, Apple Newsstand, Kindle and Android. Plus our events: $2000 Challenge, Mitty, UTCC, Rolex party, Orange Blossom Tour and more. Plus two website. Plus other special projects, like the World Challenge fan guide, Mitty program, etc. Oh, and for the last 2+ years I have been chairman of the board for the British Motor Trade Association.
Busy, busy.

I, for one, appreciate that and it was probably my forum comment and the staff's response from some time back that M2P was referencing. I wish other magazines (cough...cough...American Rifleman...cough) would have such standards as well, but understand the need to keep the lights on, and in that case, at least the advertising dollars received for non-camo pajamas and -uh- pills goes to help protect us and keep us free.
Anyway, I always strive to feed my speed habit with GRM advertiser sourced items, whenever possible, and I mention it to them as well.
You'll need to log in to post.
