This is an artist's concept of the next MX-5, which is supposed to be much lighter than the current car.

This is also an artist's concept of what the next Miata will look like.
The only difference is that your artist had access to Photoshop.
No ND body design facts out yet, AFAIK.
If that was the car, it looks like they went from the overly , stupid smiley face to a pucker. A mean pucker at that.
Peter, I'm all for that interpretation, but the 4 spoke wheels are a tough sell.
Does that second artists rendering have a dead hooker in the trunk? I've driven some miatas, and unless it was a very petite dead hooker, I suspect it will not be smaller and lighter as everyone hopes.

Not only a dead hooker, but it's quite obviously driving on water (which contains other dead hookers). Apparently it's being driven by Zombie Ted Kennedy.
No, no, you guys are looking at it wrong. I thought those were hookers at first, too, but the width of the hairs is more in line with dreadlocks; those are hippies. The ND will apparently be an alternative fuel car and run on hippie-juice.
Get it right fellas. That second drawing clearly shows the car is the next generation Amphicar. It's also showing the car/boat will come with optional computer controlled driving. That's evidenced by the fact that the driver has both his hands and feet free from pedals or wheels. It also is trying to show that the prototype has encountered some programing "glitches". Those bodies, both on the side of the car and to each side are the aftermath of the vehicle striking a party pontoon while on auto pilot...
Geez, what a bunch of simpletons, I can't believe you didn't see that.
Oh, and no freakin' idea what the next Miata will look like. I just hope it doesn't have the C&D logo in the middle of the windshield. That would suck.

I suppose it was only a matter of time before Rinspeed decided cutting up European cars wasn't enough.
