I have 14" rims to use. I need snows. I want general altimax arctics. But they only come in 185's, which is not working for 8" wide rims. Right? Rally cross is the name, trying to not debead is the game.

Should I A) try 185's on 8" rims B) 195's or 205's from a different brand.

And, no, I won't be buying rims for awhile, so it has to 14".

Here's a video of some Italian guys putting a 185 on an 8" wheel. So to answer your question yes, they CAN fit, but holy crap I would not be the guy to attempt it, that's for sure.

If you have to keep those wheel, you need to buy the best tire that fits, and a 185 (for rallycross) doesn't fit.

Yeah that stretch can't be kosher on dirt ... maybe I'll skip the generals and look elsewhere. Thanks guys

That's a 185/45 shown in that video. What size are you running? 185/70? I imagine that would be a lot less of a problem on an 8" wheel.

Really? When I google image it, I still find images of crazy stretch. I mean I'd try it, the worst that would happen is a tire debead at the track. I just don't want a tire that will have that issue every run...I'm sure everyone attending the event won't either. Lol.

A lot of amateur drift guys have stretched 185 or 195s on 8" wide wheels to have as little grip as possible at the back end without having to resort to changing camber for the event. I'm probably stretching a 215/70r15 over an 8.5" wide wheel next year as summer fitment, but that's less than 0.6" of overall stretch on sidewalls that are over 5". A 185/65r14 would be a little over 0.7" of overall stretch on sidewalls of around 4.7" which is getting kinda sketchy when it comes to maintaining a bead at higher speed. Fine for street driving at reasonable speed, but when grip is the name of the game and sidewall load is high, I'd go for 205s from a different brand for cornering grip.

These are 175's on a 7.5" rim on my school shop's B12 (but 13's):

Michelin X-Ice is pretty comparable, if ~those~ come in your size!

I was thinking 195/60, since they match front and back that way. 8" on the rear. 7" on the front. I can get coopers or yoko ice guards. All about 25$ more per tire.
