They are fugly, and they are scary.

I friend used to race one - I always ribbed him by saying that he went to that from a lovely injected 57 Vette because I turned faster lap times than the Vette in my MGA Twin Cam at Portland

He told me that the Cheetah was always about a second away from trying to kill him and that it concentrated his attention very effectively. Loud, fast in a straight line, so so brakes and atrocious handling. If I wanted that I'd have put a 283 in my TR-3! And did I mention that they are ugly - the Quasimodo of the elderly sports racing set.

I saw one at the concourse in Cincy a couple years ago. I liked it.

I read an article about them in Kit Car Builder a year or three ago. My understanding is they did fix the handling as best they could while staying true to the design.

$45K for the base kit is a lot... roughly 3x a FFR kit? That's a lot of scratch just to say you don't have a Cobra...

"Hey, let's put the engine dead center of the wheelbase - the weight distro will be perfect!"

"But what about the driver?"

"Ehh...berkeley 'Em. Frivolous litigation is at least two decades away."

How can weight distribution be the problem, when mid-engine is supposedly the hot race setup? A flexy chasis, front-end lift and bad geometry are all fixable. I fail to see that the concept was buggy, just the execution.
