This was my day yesterday.
Found a 2000 Daytona 500 Grand Prix GTP coupe, with 1 registered owner, and just UNDER 54,000 KM (thats like 34,000 miles for you southern boys ) I had to buy it.
I know lots of you hate W-body GM's. I don't. I've had a few, and they've treated me very well. They have their issues, but what car doesn't?
They're really nice relaxed cruisers, and the M90'd 3800 V6 is one of my favorite DD motors.
This thing is like stepping back in time to the cheesy GM goodness that I remember somewhat fondly from my younger days. Automotive desires need not be rational...
It's one of 140 originally sold in Canada.
It was a 1000+ km round trip, including a blown tire on the trailer...On the bright side, I got a tick over 16mpg with the 6.0 with the CC set on 118 KPH. Trailer and car weight was right around 6000 lbs per the scale we drove over on the way home from Edmonton to Lethbridge.
I want one!!! Great car great find!!!
Nice find.
Haters gonna hate.
The W body is really a decent chassis. It is just saddled with about 400# of excess bloat and only available with a slutomatic.
I'd pimp it.
I find it interesting that they sold Daytona 500 edition GPs in Canada
Don Keefe, who is the editor of the Pontiac club monthly magazine as well as a number of books on Pontiacs, has a 2000 GTP Daytona replica. He recently had the engine rebuilt, and it's putting out close to 400hp.

Not as interesting as having pro hockey teams in Florida and Arizona...
We have summer to race cars, they don't have winter to play ice hockey.
if you like cool, but at least you can you have something that truly is rare north of the border at least...nice shape and enjoy.....
Cool. The guy down the street has one with a cat-back on it. It sounds ok.
