An indy car engine mated to a NASCAR trans in a lightweight '66 Mustang.
I like the idea but too bad there are no pics...there's a facebook page for the project, can anyone on there link some pics?
'... a 300 cubic-inch, all-aluminum, four-cam Indy motor...'
WHICH friggin motor!
It's not as if they are available in local pic'n'pay yard.

The subframe is stock. It has an aluminum suspension cradle.
My '65 is 2750lbs. This car should be significantly lighter than 2700lbs.
In reply to ReverendDexter:
With the exhaust tucked up in there like that, there's no room for a crossover. While a cross-over can help, the gains sometimes aren't worth the effort.

Cosworth was selling an old DFV a couple of years ago on their website...I can't remember the exact cost but it was something around the $20k-30k range.
That engine in the picture, is not a DFV, however. It also has spots for two distributors... so that should help date the engine.
It's out of the lotus or Gurney eagle's of the mid 60's. based off the Windsor smallblock. Somewhere around 400hp.

Create a similar fiberglass body for a 69 Camero and a 70 Challenger
Put same drivetrain in them
Replace cars in NASCAR with these
Win
(would be nice if they add a few more road courses though)

Also, the NASCAR teams are dropping their old gas blocks for the new Ethanol stuff.
Guy out here at Hallett has a Roush Yates motor he gave $18k for stuffed in an S197 making like 900hp.
It's awesome.

I want to point out that you can buy an entire fiberglass body for a 1969 Camaro already.
Just to clarify, this Mustang doesn't have a fiberglass body. It has some fiberglass body panels, like front fenders, hood, doors and trunk lid. The unibody is factory-style steel.
