OE Parts were around $1500 IIRC.

@FlightService:
Obviously there are a number of people in your area that like them. Picture was taken in Clarksburg, MD last October. Only have ~half the group in the pic.
^^^ If those miles are genuine, and the car doesn't have a salvage title---- that was a very good buy. Pristine, low-mileage, stock cars are going to be well into the six figures, very, very soon.
I'm kicking myself for not buying a beautiful 30k mile NSX 5 years ago for $30k. The plan now is to suck it up and buy a different car at today's higher prices. I don't care if an NSX is slower than a minivan. It's an NSX, the pinnacle of Hondas engineering and styling and I've always wanted one and they will always turn more heads than a common Corvette or Porsche.
I also loved these when they were new. Back in 93 when my mother was looking for a new car, the local Acura dealer humored me by letting me sit in the one they had in the showroom. At 5'10", I don't recall feeling cramped and loved the outward visibility compared to other sporty cars of the day.
Today... the love and softened... for the same money, there are many other cars I'd rather buy. Too many to list.

There are obviously enough folks who agree with you to drive the prices up.
The driver na1s dipped into the teens around here a few years ago, almost bought a red one. Now that they are on the rise i regret not getting one.
Not to derail the subject, but how far off of NSX performance was the 2nd gen (W20?) MR2 Turbo? Just seems that if NSX prices are getting out of hand that would be a good alternative.
Isn't there some JDM engine swap for MR2's that might close up or reverse that performance gap with the NSX?

Gen 2 MR2 in project shape is $1k to $3k with nice DD examples in the $4k~$6k range, Pristine examples are around $10k
THE swap isn't JDM, it is a 1MZ-FE from a Camry. You can get kits and if you like forums there are more than plenty of build threads to drop it right in.
Makes them a real little beast. Save the extra money for suspension work to minimize lift off oversteer.
In reply to Flight Service: I think the MR2 is the only car I've ever seen where a CAMRY swap is the best option. Cracks me up every time. And yes, I'd love to have one.

1MZ days are over, it's all about the 2GR motors now. Way more capable.

I can't afford it, but I'm curious as to how much?
My best buddy has owned a half dozen 911`s of various vintages and a NSX. He says that the NSX is by far the better car. The problem with the NSX is that they do everything too well. There are no quirks or eccentricity. Consequently the NSX seems boring.

Has there ever been another car that's born to be in black the way the NSX is? Don't get me wrong, the electric blue that some of them came in was very nice, but the back puts it beyond mortal levels of sexyness.
...that said I bet they would look pretty good in a brushed aluminum finish a la DeLorean. (Yes, I know the D wasn't aluminum.)

I called to get the price and got the run around, but there is one in Brooklyn for $389k
which is roughly sticker.

I built an SW20 with a 1MZ swap and it was great. Very balanced and a helluva lot better on track than the 3SGTE. 2GR is more than a 1MZ in every way. More isn't always better.
Kinda like where this thread keeps going: Why would you spend $15 on a Bento Box, when you can get a Big Mac and Fries for $6? Depends on what you want for lunch.
