Which OBDII scan tool will read wheel speed sensors to tell me which one is bad.

Not a $1500 snap in brick, but I don’t mind spending a couple hundred on something that will work on 2011 and up cars.   My current one stopped updating in 2008.

You will not get wheel speed from an OBD-II scanner.  OBD-II is a set of standards for the engine computer, you are looking to access ABS.

If you don't want to spend $5k for a red wheel chock, you might be able to find something that works for your specific vehicle.   VWAG has the Ross-Tech that you can get for $600 or so, Volvo has scamware copies of VIDA floating around, etc.

It'll almost definitely be in the CAN traffic and you can read that via the OBD plug, but like Pete said it's not part of the protocol.

If we're talking about one car, you can either capture the CAN traffic and use published protocols to decode it or you can swing by a dealership. If you're talking about something to use in a shop, I fear it will be spendy.

Its been a while but I seem to remember that my local Oreily's has a better free scanner than 'Zone or Advance.  I think they read me abs codes in the past.  I think my abs light was on and they could tell me that it was a right rear sensor.

This could also vary by location.

On Subarus, the ABS codes can be read through the instrument panel. Not sure whether this helps since you didn't mention what kind of car you're working on.

This is for my Mazda5, that may be sold this evening.   And it turns out that I fixed it with a new sensor cord end some heat shrink tubing and solder.  I noticed a pinched and corroded wire while changing out the struts.  Local parts store had a harness pigtail, that fit with a little trimming.  The cruise and ABS hasn’t worked in years, fixed on the day I sell it.

In case you run into a problem that needs wheel speed readings this could be an option:

Foxwell 630

I have one and I've used it to check wheel speed sensors on a Suzuki SX4, Bleed the ABS on a Kia, and diagnose several other emissions failures for other vehicles. It will do live data so you can check sensor output add read abs and SRS codes.

edit: I used  it to find that a cheap front wheel bearing had the wrong number of counts so it caused the AWD system to be disabled.
