I was there. Here's what I learned:
-
7 lap races are too short for everything other than the Indy cars of which more than a third DNFed.
-
Ditch the motorcycles next year and make the races 10 laps and I'd like it better as a spectator.
-
I didn't camp at the track and didn't attend the party, but did enjoy the racing.
-
Nice to meet the GRM staff and the Flyin' Miata guys.
-
The SBC race with the variable race pit stops was confusing. I'm still not sure who really won. I think the winner never pitted, but who knows.
-
A megaphone would go a long way when trying to organize/direct a Mazda parade lap record.
-
Road Atlanta is hillier than I thought.
-
I like VIR and Barber better than Road Atlanta as far as spectating goes.
-
Watching a vette lose it coming off turn 9 and doing 2 or 3 spins heading down the hill towards 10a and not hit anything or anybody was cool.
-
I am not so good at meeting or identifying other GRM forum people.
-
Staying at a motel with electricity and hot water was nice when there was neither at home due to the tornadoes.
Marie and I Karl are home thanks to all and we wish everyone had a safe journey home .See You Next Year !!!!!
1 . Scooter was sweet to have and to
fill it up race gas is expensive
-
Bring dog biscuits for Winners Circle dog Buddy
-
bring parking for Taco truck only sign
-
Invite sister in law and brother in law for saturday we where cranking
5 bring sandwich board sign for middle street vendors row
-
pray to the water gods maybe get a spicket to hook to on vendors row
-
put fur on one of my beaters
-
take more piks
-
after 6 days of travelling could used 2 more pairs shorts
-
GRM staff and nation are awesome

Being neither Aussie, nor Hong, I will say that if you didn't run into her car while it was PARKED, we wouldn't make fun of you.

Once again, The Mitty and GRM knows how to put on a show. Meeting a bunch of GRM Members and Staff only furthers my opinion that this is the best website on the interwebs!
Added observations:
1. Dont let Brad around Alcohol and his bike
2. Aussie's RR is badass!
3. The Hongs are badass! Sorry i passed out early...
4. Do not feed Fit Is Slo 4 Lokos.
5. Playing Darts drunk is alot of fun!
6. Who was the chick handing out the free beers? She was hot!
7. Wayne's Vespa is probably the coolest one i have ever seen!
8. The campground aftermath look like someone raped a chicken...
Until next year (or Petit Le Mans...) I look forward to meeting more of the GRM faithful and am planning on hiding Brad's keys or taking the plug wire off his bike...
I'll second all of the above with the exception of the slanderous statement about me It was the numerous beers that did me in lol

Well, I guess it was going to come out eventually. Good thing I don't have any credibility to lose. If she ever beats me at autocross then I'll probably do it again, just to prove a point.
Thanks again. We are already planning next year. We go back to old school and a British car theme with Kas Kastner as our grand marshal. Mark your calendars for the last weekend in April.
They're exhausting, but I love being a part of the Mitty.
Lessons learned-
1.) Always have a backup Mazda in case your Miata decides to burn up a heater hose on the way up.
2.) It pays to be skinny. I got roped into driving some very special cars this weekend simply because I fit in the drivers seat.
3.) Karl and Marie make fantastic tacos.
4.) Turn the lights out after the first failed 50cc wheelie.
5.) Smile more, worry less.
6.) The Mazda2 loaded with 3 passengers and lots of crap is still faster than a Fit.

1) Dean Case and the guys at Mazda look awesome in Speed Racer-worthy attire, and the BRE-liveried MX-5 with Morton at the wheel was wicked.
Dean Case is at Mazda now? Last time time I talked to him was right after Nissan announced they were moving to Nashville. I need to stay touch with people more.

I think these two go hand in hand.

As some of you perhaps noticed, I was absent from the festivities.
Oh wow. That's akward. I wonder who I was talking to for that hour and half.

GRM/Classic Motorsports put on a killer show. Always.
-
If the drink tastes really, really strong, you probably forgot to add mix.
-
Put pillows and sleeping bag in the tent before "bedtime."
-
You really have no idea how good of a taco Karl and Marie make. I'm not blowing smoke. Simple + good ingredients = win.
-
Suspicion confirmed: There is no grocery store EAST of the track. (Thanks a pantload, Joel.)
-
Though I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest AC/DC fan there, everyone will have a cool Brian Johnson story but me. I guess that's life.
A few things I learned from a great (although exhausting) weekend:
-
Even the larger than life Wes Cobb will eventually succumb to the ravages of hard liquor. ( How much did you guys feed him anyways?! My LORD!
-
Cute model girls really should put sunblock on their legs
-
Driving like an ass during a touring lap has it's consequences. (just ask the Mazdaspeed Miata driver )
*Maroon92 should really take a motorcycle safety course...or an alcohol awareness course.....or both!
-
There is very little you can do to stop a flat-brimmer from being an ass while out on track.
-
Our readers kick ass
-
HSR has become a great partner to work with
-
Waffle House at 3am is NEVER a good idea
-
Mazda really "gets it" If I was buying a car they would get my $$$. No other company does so much for our scene.

I gave myself both of those courses last weekend. It was both the dumbest and most embarrassing thing I have ever done.
Alcohol is WAY tougher on you when you are already dehydrated, and haven't had anything but a burrito and a granola bar to eat all day.
■Waffle House at 3am is NEVER a good idea
We can't be friends anymore.

You know how they say that if you're scared of heights, you should skydive, and if you're scared of snakes you should go to an all black male strip club?
GI problems are the same way. Make that IBS your bitch by eating a double patty melt plate double scattered double covered every day for a year.
