So I’m looking on getting some summer wheels for my summer tires. I am on a budget with the wedding 2 months out. I’m in Korea where I have access to some decent knock off wheels and I’m being tempted.

I feel like I have two choices due to my limited budget. I know I can get a set of used knock of Volks for like 400 USD or I could get used OEM Rspec wheels for around 200USD.

With that said, the car will be seeing some track and mountain roads this summer. Deep inside I know that I should go for the OEM quality RSpecs (heavy), But just wanted to see what you guys think…

Has the knock off wheel market gotten any better in terms of quality in the past years?

Why not go with some Enkei or Kosei wheels if you don't want knock offs but something light and strong enough that is decently affordable?

The wife would not be pleased that I spent that much on a second set of wheels. It's the tires that I'm really worried about in terms of cost :(

I'm just happy she hasn't said anything about me keeping the car

I'm no expert in this area, but I feel like with wheels it's cheap, light, safe, pick 2. The OE wheels are on the heavy end for a reason.

It's an older Genesis Coupe...

I feel like the OEM wheels are probably in terms of strength and safety. but at 26-28 lbs a piece that's a lot of weight.

Don't go for knockoffs. A) You're supporting a company that just rips off somebody else's product B) A lot of them have pretty questionable strength.
