I've noticed that these popular new side-by-side ATVs have wheelbases that hover around 75" or so, and that this roughly matches many Japanese Kei cars, such as an N600. So what about grafting a kei car body on to the chassis of a side-by-side ATV? Has anyone else thought of this? Camo'd Honda N600 or Subaru R360 w/ knobby tires and gun-rack in the back window?
I'm not suggesting this would be street legal or desirable on the street, btw.
Likea dis, except without the pickup bed to haul your large animal carcasses?

Yes that is more practical.
I guess I'm thinking along the lines of a Japanese miniaturized version of when rednecks plop a Monte Carlo body on their 4x4 chassis, for laughs.
At the same time, a more weatherproof and nicer-looking version of a side by side ATV (which is really what I'm getting at) doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. It could have a roof rack...

Think I'd just get a Samurai or a Tracker, they're pretty small and already have a more appropriate driveline.

And believe it or not, you can also drive those things on the highway. I got a Samurai up to 90 mph once. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/googly-18.png)
There are LOTS of Actys, Sambars and Hijets being imported from Japan into Canada. They start at about $4000 and go up depending on age and condition. They seem to average around $6500.
No idea what the spare parts network is like, but if you're thinking of something for farm use that won't see the road in the US, they might be work doing some homework on.

It's not for laughs, they're serious.
Don't make fun of the Trar.
See the Ford Focus 4x4 with the toyota drivetrain on ebay. Nicely thought out and executed. Builder knows a bit about engineering.

Has any one else ever noticed that a Tracker / Samuri have very similar wheelbase / track to a CRX....
