Would this be SCCA rallycross legal?

In the great state of Michigan in the good old US of A hell yes, easily. Over in Canada, I have no idea. I think you have more of those pesky law things to contend with don't you?

Seen in California, so anything goes down here.

Yes, I expect the same here in Canada. The good news is, we're moving to FL in the first half of 2015. This gives me an idea...

Tube frame cars are not allowed. If it was a logbooked rally car it would be allowed.

I think it's more like you get to buy one, then drop it on top of whatever you want.

In my case, i'm thinking a long rod turbo FE3 huffing ALLOFIT sitting in a Miata "skateboard."

Drop on Escort body.

Proceed directly to winning, do not pass go, DO collect all the internets, go directly to winning.

Miata Wheelbase 89.5, MkI Escort 94.5. Hmm, move the front cradle forwards effectively moving the engine back and closer to the center for better weight dist and polar moment. I like it. The issue is width and track width. The Escort is something like 5" narrower, I don't know if even flared arches will help. Get out your tape measure.

That's not bad. That's only 2.5" of tacked on overfenders per side. I'd call it an even 4" per side in the name of fitting huge rubber.

NC Miata is 91.7" long if that helps.

In reply to Adrian_Thompson:

if you flare them 1.5" per a side that gets your 3" leaving just an inch offset to deal with.

In reply to Swank Force One:

AW11!?!?! That just seems wrong. Now find a rust AE86 and now you're talking. Spot on for wheelbase as well. That could be really cool with a 5 valve engine.

Note to all, hell has just frozen over, I am saying nice things about To-To-Toy-Toyota products!!!!
