Since I've crossed an international border doing 130mph 4 up with luggage, I'd definitely shoot for the the 150mph class or more.
Is the statute of limitations up on that one Adrian, because that sounds like a story that needs to be shared.
I've put the whole story on here before. It was in Europe when I picked up the Volvo from the factory in 2008. We did 2,100 miles in 10 days (in 08 when gas was $11 gal in Europe!!!) While the freeway in Denmark isn't theoretically unrestricted like the German Autobahn, I crossed from Denmark to Germany, with my family and full luggage flat out doing a speed limited 130mph. The old passport control from before there were open boarders were still there, you just drove through them. Trust me, once up to speed and the novelty has worn off, there's nothing special about doing 130mph for long periods of time. Especially late at night when no one is on the road. The only alarming thing is seeing the instant fuel use saying well into single digits at those prices.
The Nurburgring a couple of days later 4 up then with an instructor, now that was a real thrill.
Ok ok... i'll bring it out probably next year. Still working on some gearing trickery. I have no interest in going out there just to bang rev limiter for the last few hundred feet. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)

Good![](/media/img/icons/smilies/crazy-18.png)
Seriously, how much power and how fast do you think you could go? Is there an up to date thread on here with details. I keep hearing reference to this beast, but I don't recall seeing anything about it for years.

With no real data to back me up, i'd expect 160mph+.
Don't think i have a real up to date thread on it anywhere. I'm mad at myself for causing some wiring berkeleyery i need to fix. Targets are 400whp+ and 2300lbs or less.
135 mph in the 996 is a drive to the store, I am not caging that one, I have a project in the wind but that will be for the future
Upcoming schedule:
June 6-7 – One Mile Event
July 11-12 — NEW!!! HALF MILE EVENT
Sept 26-27 — Street Bike Challenge (cars welcome)
I'd like to go again in Sept if possible.
We have the idea of a few more modifications for 135. They do give a 5mph buffer.
We have a flat spot in acceleration from 90-110, then after 110 it pulls hard again and we have rpms's left. Possibly a few tweaks to the PCM.
We have discussed installing the safety equipment to go 150 and build it up a little further.

Oof. 175mph requirements are costly. For good reason, i'm sure, but blah. Maybe i won't be taking the MX6.
Looks like I won't be taking anything. Full face helmets and I don't get along.

I don't get the metal seat requirement. Is this NASCAR or something? There are plenty of cars that will do over 175 with plastic seats. Where are you going to get a metal seat to fit your Aventador? Is this requirement meant to keep exotics out of the event?
Bringing this back up.
What cars have a good overall CdA rather than just Cd that have say a wheel base of at least 100" or close to it so they would be stable at speed that are available in running driving condition for less than $1,000?
Any big german luxury car?

I know theearly Opel/Vauxhall Omega and they are popular in Europe for their low Cd, something like .28, but I don't know what the later ones were that came here as Caddy Cateras.
I also wonder about the GM mini vans like Pontiac Transport?
Wasn't the Ford Thunderbird used for NASCAR in the 80's because of low drag? What about the old 4 eye Mustangs with light covers, or the old SVO?

Put a factory Airflow kit on your C900. ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/evil-18.png)

Trust me, I am considering the 150 mph class in 16 or 17 with a rear roll bar. does the factory kit actually reduce drag, or just look like it. 135 mph might be more reasonable as one mile isn't a lot to accelerate it. This is one LSR venue where weight might make a difference due to acceleration. It's so hard persuading people that weight has no influence on top speed, only how long it takes to get there.

3rd gen Firebird
Mullet adds too much drag....
Sorry, had to go there.![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)
In reply to Rad_Capz:
I also vote on the 3rd gen Firebird or Camaro.
Craigslist is crawling with them under $1K.

We're building a 3rd Gen Camaro for the mile. If your near York, stop in.
See you next weekend Andrew ![](/media/img/icons/smilies/wink-18.png)
I think I've answered my own question.
http://www.markviii.org/LOD2/bonneville.htm
Ford took a Mk VIII to Bonnoville in 1993.
Stock body with mirrors removed
Stock blueprinted Mod motor making 290hp
Ran it in 3rd gear for 1:1 ratio to reduce losses
2.47:1 rear axle to account for the 3rd gear run
Air suspension set to lower an additional 25mm at speed so total drop was around 45-50mm
Belly pans and some sheeting behind the grill
Result 182.694mph. Not freekin bad.

And a different car
