This. Only mistake I made was buying an SL1. Gas mileage is probably a little better, but really wish I had the extra ooomph of the twin cam. Very happy with mine, though.

A buddy of mine has a well sorted E30 4-door that could be negotiated near your price with some parts left out... Copied from the local VW forums. Car is in the Detroit area.
Up for sale is my E30, it is a blue 4 door 325i with many of the "S" upgrades.
-No structural rust, there is a little on the bottom of the front doors and the sunroof panel, but the chassis is clean
-New timing belt, water pump, t-stat, aux belts, plugs, all aluminum radiator, electric fan, Battery, alternator, engine compartment fuel lines within last 5K miles
-Engine runs well, has 211K miles, burns some oil (less than a quart every 5K)
-AC compressor, front lines, and condensor have been removed, interior AC components are still there.
-SS brake lines around
-TR motorsport 15x8" wheels with 205/50 toyos and a set of stock bottlecaps with winter tires...should be replaced
-coilover sleeves at all four corners to allow the use of 2.5" springs and ride height adjustable, camber plates, treehouse racing eyeball arms, and adjustable strut bar in the front, could benefit from some stiffer shocks, but not necessary
-rear beam has been raised 13mm to correct roll center after lowering and all four rear control arm mounts are adjustable allow alignment of rear end. All poly bushings in the rear (does not squeak)
-3.73 limited slip differential
-2.5" SS exhaust
-i will include all of the spares i have for this thing including a SS cat back exhaust, cylinder head gasket set, upgraded head bolts, P&P'd bare cylinder head, Megasquirt PnP ecu in the oem Motronic case that plugs into the factory harness with the stock cal already in it. Basically everything needed to add boost except the turbo setup itself.
-Black vinyl Sport interior with or without the harness bar
-needs a new radio, and the water temp gauge flickers sometimes but still reads accurately
-paint is faded pretty bad, it is a southern car, dash is cracked at the center of the glovebox
For a 23 yr old car it is pretty awesome, aside front the paint it is definitely one of the cleaner E30's in the area, Looking to get $3200 OBO open to offers and possible trades.
That E30 is too nice for what I need.... I ended up picking up an 04 Grand Am 5spd last night in nearly perfect shape outside of the 150K miles. but the price was right. It will only be driven in snow and rain anyways. I don't want to destroy something nice.
feels good to have a clutch again.
So what is wrong with it? Has to be a 4cyl/5spd plus the 4 doors... That car here is a minimum of $2500 on the price tag.
150k miles with the 4-cyl/5spd combo.....granted, while I was test driving it, he had 4 phones calls about it in 15 minutes.
Good find. Plentiful in junkyards and for everything else Advancezoneboys will have the part in-stock
