I'm working on an old hot rod with an aluminum GM SBC intake on it, part number on top of manifold behind carb is 1404886. My google-fu has turned up exactly one hit, from another guy asking if anyone recognizes this number.

So, anyone care to find me some info on it? Thanks!

The list of manifold casting numbers here: http://outintheshop.com/faq/casting/intake_man.html has a couple 140xxxx numbers in the 1979-1990 time frame, but not that exact one. Yours should be around the same vintage, but that doesn't help much for the specific application. I checked a couple of the other Chevy part number databases out there and didn't find it on them either.

My Chevy by the Numbers books run through 1982 and they list up to a 1403xxx - an aluminum L82 intake from 1982. Try to find the date code on the intake - could be on top or bottom (under the heat shield if it has one), and that will help determine what it's from.

Prototype parts still get their part numbers cast into it. Who's dumpster did someone dive for that?

Possible one or both of the 8's is 3? Gm's casting numbers are sloppy with those two.

I couldn't find any 7-digit numbers beginning with 1404...

Do you have a picture of the intake?

I will tomorrow, I think. Car is not at my house. It's a GM high-rise dual plane with a square aka Holley pattern. I assume 70s vintage because that's when the car was put together.

This description screams early z28 or corvette intake.
