I don't see any extra engine in the ad.  I'm not going to ask someone to haul it that far unless they are doing it anyway.  If you're going there anyway I'll pay for extra trailer rental but I'm not going to ask the Indy guys to drive 9 hours each way to bring it that much closer.

That's what I'm trying to say.  I have to go down there anyway.  Let me look up the town and I'll get back with you.   But the soonest I can do that is about the 10th of August.   Otherwise I can go there Sunday and pick it up for you.

About to do a road trip but I'll try and figure out things while I drive.  Where in NC are you going?

Where is this vehicle located now?

Champlin, MN exactly 1500 miles from me.

I am 45-50 min from there if someone needs eyeballs on it.  I mountain bike at elm creek preserve.

Wanna get the temporary joy of looking at it in your driveway without the pain of actually buying it?

I'll be able to head towards Winston Salem  NC  a few days earlier. I was thinking if I could meet someone in that area  we could rent a UHaul to go one way to Jackson Florida?

Heck if it's only a couple more hours down the road to you I'd be willing to do that.
Of course the price would be real high.  You'd have to say nice things about Jaguars.
not sure you could handle that.   ;-)

I've got a fellow enabler  that can provide storage S. of Religh/Durham if needed...

He'd be glad to meet in Winston, as well.

I thought a lot today during my drive.  The car is missing a steering column.  There's no shifter.  It's not a one man thing to load it up.  Plus it'd have to be unloaded then loaded again several times.  That combined with putting others out makes it to where I don't think it's worth me saving it.  Someone in the Midwest should save it instead.

I believe you were looking for an old project car and you have enough younguns around that you could load it easy enough.  Just don't try and tow it with a Prius.

You are prolly right, but I want to see it down in our corner of the country, so I can help.
I literally would not mind the drive, or the hassle of loading / unloading (would not want F to have to! But I'm a bit younger) and would love to meet Frenchyd in person one day. (Gotta be a hoot to listen to his story's in person!) but no room to breath this summer, much less time for that.
It depends on how long Frenchyd (or another enabler) can let it sit around.
If I find some decent contracts this fall (not looking good!) I might could this winter. Next summer is more likely.

Who wants some semi long term yard art???

In reply to Stampie :

I think you're only a couple hours south of where I'm going anyway.  So it seems reasonable for me to load it. Bring it down to you.  Lack of steering isn't a problem. It's not my first rodeo.  Ya jus kick the tires until they's a pointin' da rights way.   Besides you'd have to change the steering anyway if you're going to properly channel it.
It would look dorky sitting on top of the frame. Totally lacking the "Modified" look. Without the channeling it would look half azzed restomod.  The Engine wouldn't be close enough to the hood to have it poking out. Which is the true style of a modified.
Either a Sawzall  or  plasma gun would make fast work of cutting out the firewall* and floorboard.  Then drop the body down and set it on some cribbage until everything is level and looking mean.  * you need to set the engine way back, maybe have the air filter start just at the windshield.
I'm the kinda guy who would media blast the frame and paint it.  Then leave the body exactly as is.  But then I tend to overdo everything.
That would be a stunning looking mean street machine

I have come alongs. To just rachet it up, but absolutely if Fueled by Caffeine could help that would be wonderful.  I've found meeting friends and messing with cars to be a lot of fun.

Sorry,   I'm committed to the Jaguar XJS.   I'm sure you wouldn't want to see a Jaguar powered modified.  ;-)

If you croak loading up a BBC I'll still talk E36 M3 but it won't be as much fun without you around to read it.

Come along will get the job done, but I can submit the first thing I learned from Stampie. Harbor freight ATV winch on a piece of wood.

Flat tire and a stuck brake? No problem.

From Stampie, that's high praise surprise

And a lot of us agree!

I know you can load an old junker. My dad taught  me to move stuff the ol' farm hand way. Little at a time, and don't get in a hurry!

When my dad was around your age, I was 35 or so... he could still move more than me! I didn't get stronger than him till he was 78, and he could still move as much as me!!!

Although Frenchy claims that a BBC is my favorite big block, my favorite is actually a Cadillac 472/500.  I have one waiting on a project.  With a BOP 400 trans sitting here also.  That's way more likely for something like this.  If I were to buy it that is.
