All good choices but I need to vote FC. Them twirlin' Doritos are mighty addictive. Swapability over the rotary lineup includes a lot of 1st gen and FD bits, easy upgrades, great reliability if maintained, personally I think Mazda improved the looks over the 944 they quite obviously copied. E30's are cool, I was seriously considering a 325is as a DD a while back but for a track dog I still say FC.

Two words: Drift. Tax. I'm seeing $2500-$3000 prices for worn-out rustbuckets. Otherwise, an S13 could be a good choice, too.
