With a heavy emphasis on Portland. Living ten minutes from PIR, it's hard to swallow having to drive for hours to other venues, though it's sometimes worth it.

A comment in another thread reminded me about the local PCA as an option for autocross. I've only raced with the SCCA and EESCC, but I'm curious about how good some of the other events are, and other considerations (e.g. is it correct that the PCA doesn't do much to classify non-Porsches?)

I'm not autocrossing this year (2002 is disassembled, rebuilding garage, going to Germany this summer, and fitting in a little vintage motorcycle roadracing on the CB160. As Prince Humperdink would say, "I'm swamped."), but curious about options for 2012.

I'm dubious as to whether my Grand Plans for the 2002 will be remotely done by then, so this may even play into what else to pick up to fill in the void. I can only go so long driving my girlfriend's stock Civic or our pickup before I get so bored I forget to breathe.

First off... where2race will tell you all local clubs and venues. They're awesome in the NW

And the PCA here (ORPCA) is more competitive than the SCCA. You get 6 runs as opposed to 3 and they have a season-long championship for Non-Porsche's split into 2 categories, Race Tire and Street Tire (140 or higher treadwear). First event is 3/12!

Don't forget the WMC near Salem.

Fiance and I made events with EESCC a weekend trip by staying overnight near the area of the Autocross so we can explore some of Southern Oregon (got to see Crater Lake for instance) Made the deal much less painful for the driver and for the passenger as well :)

CSCC has a great TSD Rally program that is a lot of fun. Everyone should do the Mountains the Sea rally at least once before they deride TSD rally's.

The Corvette club holds various AutoX events from time to time as well.

Of course ICSCC, CSCC, TC, SCCA, PCA and other clubs hold track days at PIR, Grass Prairie and Pacific Raceways.

Finally, there are the road races held by ICSCC, the SCCA.and especially the endurance races held by ChumpCar in April and October at PIR.

More clubs are scheduling track days at Oregon Raceway Park this year.

I'm probably not going to do any competing this year either but an ORP track day is on my to-do list for 2012.

You'll need to log in to post.
