I met the seller when he was selling a nicer DS about a year ago. Extremely nice and very willing to show me the ins and outs of Citroen ownership. We talked briefly about me possibly buying this car, but I decided the murky waters of a project Citroen were a bit too scary for me.
I did not see this car and can't comment on it. But I wouldn't hesitate to deal with the seller.
He was helping a friend sell a Trabant Tramp at the time.
I still want an SM, I drove one for just a couple minutes and I decided I have to have one someday lol.

If you build it, they will come

When I was a kid in the 70's, our neighbor had one. It was ALWAYS in the repair shop. I wonder if they got better after 40 years?
In reply to Dr. Hess:
Well if it survived this long could it really be any worse than when it was new?
This is a non-running Citroen with multiple holes in the frame due to rust. I suppose it depends on how you define "survived" but this needs brought back from dead, in my eyes.

This is the first case of a ute that doesn't look worse than the car it was based off of. but that's because the car it's based off of is soo stinking ugly to begin with.
I can resist this car, but if it were an SM, I might have to risk divorce.....

I'd say that's not too bad by MI standards, its all flat stuff anyways.

if it's like an SM.. no. Like an older saab 99/900, the engine is backwards in the chassis.. but unlike the saab, the transmission is in front of the engine behind the bumper. It more reminded me of a 911 unit moved directly to the front of the car
aren't the hydraulic brake and suspension bits tied into the transmission on these? That would probably make any swap hazardous territory.

the only way I can think of doing it... Corvette Transmission/diff

That would ruin the best part of the car, the suspension.
There is a hotrod DS built like that, RWD with an LS1. The cheapest (and best unless you want to build a whole new car under the old body) option is to keep the stock parts though.

Bolt a WRX motor to a VW bus trans with a flipped diff?
you could probably fit a V8 in there. The SM had a lovely V6. All the hight for the engine is at the firewall, having the trans up by the bumper allows that low nose
Here you go.. you can see the engine and trans in this shot
