Hi.
There's a potential project car at a used car lot in Raleigh, NC (looks like about 8 miles SSE from the airport) that I'd love to get some independent eyes on. Anyone up for the task? Google maps shows what looks to be a pretty good roadside bbq joint next door, so maybe there's lunch in it for you.

I am not your guy but I used to live there. A reputable place that is a mile down the road is the West German Garage. The guy that used to run it is John Elliason (partner with another guy Demetri?), solid guy. I haven't interacted in years but if he is still there I would trust them to walk down the street and do a PPI, walk back to the shop and still not take an hour.

I'll be heading over there when I get a minute. I figure it's a good chance to drive a potential GRM project car before they do.

This is the time when they tend to be actually drivable, so you're doing well.

Never heard of that BBQ joint, and I try to eat at them all!
I was going to offer one of my Raleigh friends, but it looks like it's taken care of. Good Luck!
If Brett can't do it, I'm flying down there on Friday... to a different dealer....

More details, please! Also, if you need a hand, let me know.

Yea, but it's that 8zf or whatever Trans that you can do cool E36 M3 with.
Huge thanks to Brett for laying eyes (and ears) on this thing.
It had the rare and precious SawzAll muffler delete option.
This one might be off the list, or certainly moving down a few rungs.
So, anyone in Cincinnatti want to go look at a car for me next?
Including the catalytic converters, from what I could see.
Just a straight pipe between the O2 sensors. I don't know enough about the cars to know if that's just how it is, but I'm skeptical.
It also had Azenis on three corners, and a Falken on one. The wheel on that corner looked alright, but *shrug*.
I didn't even drive it. The place was busy and I didn't want to waste their time unless this moves back up the list.

More details? It's blue. It's not British. I won't need a hand but maybe meet up for a quick bite before I get on the road.

Let me know, I know of a few good places. Italian, Baja Mexican, Indian, BBQ and so on.
Also the car in question:
I'm terribly optimistic about things, have enough mechanical skills to be dangerous, and even I thought this car wasn't the best idea.

Yeah the file with the audio of the exhaust was all I needed.
That would have been a loooooooong loud drive back to Florida to not save much money.

Let Tommy buy it, he likes to drive broken cars over long distances!

Hmmm, haven't had BBQ for a while.

In the Raleigh area, Backyard BBQ is my jam. I've fueled many race prep weekends there.

I'm sad this one didn't work out because that place really intrigued me. Now it looks like I'll be eating chili on top of a pile of spaghetti.
I was almost asleep last night when I sat up in bed last and thought: Wait, Azenis *are* Falkens.
I think what I meant was that it had a different kind of Falken on one corner.

The Backyard BBQ Pit is permanently closed. It remains a serious blow to taste in the area.

A completely useless and marginally related factoid (this is the internet), I picked up my little 120 Plasma cutter off a guy who worked at that same place on the map a few years ago......the Redneck BBQ Lab food truck is a regular at the Project Site so that is on the top of my list currently....

If you come up let me know... I'll join you for that chili.
