I drove the P71 in a local parade this morning. I got to do a burnout in front of the local PD with the cops cheering me on. Berkleying AWESOME!

Awards ceremony is at one, I hope we win something. We did the whole Super Troopers theme, everybody had aviators and grew mustaches and we had a box of real donuts on the dash. Judges seemed to like us.

Police sanctioned burnouts should be on every gearhead's list.

It's my theory that many cops take the job so they can speed without fear of being ticketed. At our last PCA autocross, a K-9 officer came by to see what was going on, got interested, and we let him make a run. He smoked the tires on that P71, and ran through the course as best he could. He was well off the pace, it was his first time, although he said it reminded him of the Police driver's training range.

Oh, the cool part: The German Shepard riding in the passenger's seat seemed to have more fun than the cop!

that's what I thought of immediately.

Parades are fun, I was in two for the 4th this year. One I drove the tractor may late-grandfather finished restoring last spring. The other, I accidentally entered. I was trying to get around the parade on my motorcycle, but they had missed setting up a road block where the parade made a turn. I was already in it before I realized so I just started waving.

While my wife and I were dating she would take Amtrak backand forth between NY and Albany. One sunday I had to pick up a couple cars in Jersey so I was going to drive into NYC, drop her off at Penn Station, and go on to Jersey. I had forgotten it was Gay Day(not that there'e anything wrong with it) and ended up stuck on a side street downtown while the parade passed. As we were stuck there many interesting people climbed on the truck to get a better view of the parade. One it passed and the police let us go we had to follow it uptown a little ways. My wife got a good laugh telling her parents how we brought up the rear of the Gay Parade.

I'll be driving my dads 1948 International KB6 firetruck in the Pork Festival parade this coming weekend. Everybody should be part of a parade some time in their life!

When I was about 12, some generic circus came to town--they were so lame they didn't even have a calliope. My family has a calliope, so they asked to borrow it. They pulled it with their eight-horse hitch, which was really cool. I rode up top with the horse driver guy (not really a jockey in this case).

Another calliope?
Like who does not own or know someone who owns one?

We keep our calliope next to our Zamboni.
