It said it's only 100cid so it's not just half of a V8. Whether or not it's scaled, I don't know.
When I originally read about these (a couple years back) I think the idea was that it was based on the SBC and even shared some components. I'm not sure how that concept has evolved into the production engine...
1600 CC'S, so doubled would be 3200-ish. that's getting closer to the 4.8L. I guess if you destroked it and made the bores a little smaller you could get there.
EDIT: So the bore/stroke on the MV4 is 3.46/2.67 and the 4.8 is 3.77/3.27 so it could be the same basic block. Interesting..... MV4 rods in an LR4?

Hot Rod or Car Craft did an article about this engine about five-ten years ago. It's kind of LS inspired but everything is scaled for motorcycle use. IIRC it actually does use an LS cam sprocket.
Building it to actual LS dimensions without utilizing the extra capacity they offer might be fine in a car, but would be little more than wasting vital packaging space in a motorcycle. Which is why it wouldn't make sense for it share any critical dimensions with the LS engines that it was inspired by. It's certainly a cool engine though, and I'm glad it exists. However, if my project finances could actually afford one of those engines, I'd probably try to DIY build a true LS derived V4 for myself instead.
Power is just a number...The Cruze engine would never be able to look or sound this interesting:
