I was thinking about how many hours I've poured into some of my old projects. Came across this old photo of two cars I used to love:
The 1991 E30 318is was bought new by my dad. He gave it to me a few years later. It's the car I started HPDE with. First car I ever modified.
The Peugeot was a 1990 Euro 405 Mi16 with 1.9L all-alloy engine. Probably the best all-around "sports sedan" I've ever driven.
I had to sell them when I moved to NYC and could no longer justify parking multiple cars. I held onto the Mercedes 16v racecar and sold the rest. I still regret it!
Anyway, I'd love to see some of the projects you dorks used to have.
My mid life project car, one of 2 I kept after selling off the collection in 1986/7. Elva Courier Mk2, #165. I sold it in 1996, to be replaced by Lotus Elan #9292 Sold July 2012
As my username might indicate, a couple Toyotas in my past. Here's my long-gone, sorely-missed, still-not-going-to-buy-another-one 1981 Toyota Starlet (note the Yoko A008R's on black steelies, and 5-mph bumper removal weight reduction!)
Here's my beloved pair of 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86s, autocross/trackday/hard parking on the left and rallycross/TSD/gravel logging road explorer/daily on the right:
The coupe was my first car ever and I sold it seven years ago after sixteen years together. I still have that same AE86 hatchback, now going on twenty years, with more aluminum, carbon fiber, bigger cams and throttles, higher compression, bigger wheels, brakes, and tires, etc. I hardly ever drive it, but I really struggle with the idea of selling it. I guess a good problem to have?
