Call me a slow learner.
We picked up a 1970 Elan S4 that's been sitting behind a shed since 1975. The previous owner bought it after it suffered a a front end accident. The frame and front body shell was replaced then it got pushed to the back of the yard and has sat ever since. The house has had an extension added so the only way to get it out was through the neighbour's yard. It's behind my barn right now until I finish the extension on my shop.
I call that AWESOME. Great score
Nice!
That's the great thing about free Loti - they don't take up much space, so there's no excuse not to bring one home! :D

Seriously, that rules. What're your plans for it?

Awesome! I've always really like that body. Any powertrain plans right now? Seems like a Zetec would do nicely...

I have a spare Toyota 4AGE sitting under one of my workbenches and a T50 up in the hay loft. So that may be the direction. A Zetec or Ecotec would be cool too. The original engine was dropped off at a machine shop and never picked up, back in the 70's. The transmission is still there and isn't seized. Decisions.....decisions.
Oh and the bonnet isn't shown in the pictures but it came with the car and is in really good shape. It also came with four tote bins worth of parts, but I think that's standard with any Lotus.

Awesome!
I want a free Lotus.
They just don't seem to exist around San Antonio.

Good score. Love the shape of those Elans.

yes.. that was a factory offering
WOW!! I was expecting a frameless Eclat or something. A free almost complete Elan is amazing, much less a hardtop. I love it.

You can now bolt a 6 speed(Toyota's J160) to the back of your 4AGE... if interested

Wow. If you are married, your wife loves you. If you're single, I hope you love the single life haha.
I'm just jealous.

I just turned down a free Corvair. Would not be able to resist an Elan. You're a lucky man

Nice score! I always thought a Miata engine and transmission would be a natural choice for an Elan.
(and that's a +2, not an S4).

Still a big win for you, though!
NICE! I certainly would've jumped at that: I love the hardtops.
Is a 'Free Lotus' anything like a 'free boat?'
Sounds dangerous.

You mean to tell me there's a back seat in that thing? Not much chance of, er, procreation back there if that's the case.
Lucky dog. I'd like to have an Elan and a free one would be even more betterer.
You lucky lucky bastard or maybe unlucky, it is a free Lotus after all.
So was it next to the Lotus flowers in the garden?
Sweet find!
