The Bolus & Snopes' 2017 C4 gobuild is underway with a general theme. Gonna concentrate on getting our engine/tranny woes sorted. Was originally leaning towards something for truck subclass but nixed that idea.
So naturally we are thinking ahead to 2018. We could just build a Vette Kart and remove all body parts but trying to think of something that offers a little weather protection. Trying to think of how we could possibly rebody this old Corvette within challenge budget. We have thought about mounting a 1954 GMC truck cab with a short bed period very short bed. Also thought about making an oversized Lotus 7. Surprisingly a very possible rebody would be an AMC gremlin of all things. Seating position and wheelbase line up pretty close. And CJ7 Jeep is the same wheelbase and rough seating position.
Anybody got ideas of how to rebody a C4? Or what to rebody as? Obviously the car is a bit wide and rolls on a 96 inch wheelbase. What say the Brain Trust? Keep in mind we're talking challenge budget.
Wait to find out what the 2018 special class will be? Alternatively, purchase a vehicle body and then lobby heavily for a class that suits it.

There is a lot of win on this list, including geo storm (who doesnt want a v8 RWD storm?), honda predule, accord, etc.
A rat merc 560 would be excellent as well.
I vote for a pickup truck body. Preferably an el camino or ranchero.

You make out like we want to be competitive...nah...we're just looking for some chits and giggles

That's a thought...with 15" box flares on all 4 corners!
JEEP CJ, the one with a pick up bed. But it must Have a Body. Cartoon cars just suck.

Found the highly aerodynamic geo model:

You could always make a race car replica body out of plywood and use silicone to hold everything together.

Zip ties have been holding the fenders on the miata since I painted last summer. Just throwing that out there.

Why not just up the ante with an even more intricate and less structurally sound homebuilt body?
