Excuse the photo quality as I had to zoom in so I wasn't trespassing worse than I already was.

This car has been sitting under this carport since I've lived in this neighborhood (11 years now). No idea when it last ran, but it (along with the 60's modern ranch that contains it) have always fascinated me. I run by it once or twice a week and it's usually blocked by a Navigator.

That is the ass-end of a 1973 Chrysler Imperial which is a C-Body car. Should be powered by a 440.

^Yup. Too big to be a B-Body.

'73 Imperial.

Dammit, I think I meant C-Body, because I was thinking along the Newport/Imperial lines. Boo on me.

OK--so a '73 Imperial. Sweet. I love those gigantic Funk-era (or Malaise-era) Chryslers.

That saves me the trip to google images.

I saw on the Drive talk show thingy they do on youtube where they did a segment on future collectables and the C-Bodies made the list. I wonder if this one is salvageable. Likely original owner (or relative of original owner) as the house looks like it's from between '65 and '73. Maybe I'll get the chance to chat up the owner.

I love that car! A big ass boat of a car but still looks classy.

Hard to tell from the photos, is t a two door or four?

In reply to Woody:

I'm not sure. I think it's a 4 door, but it's hard to get close without being a creep. A dog barks very loudly once I step onto the driveway, so the owners are alerted to the weirdo on their property. I'll try to look next time I go running.

I hope the carport did a decent job of preserving it. At least it's avoided rain, snow and leaves, but I don't know if humidity took its toll over the years. Hard to tell from my vantage point how much rust is on the thing.

That's just because Musto (Big Muscle) bought a Newport. He's trying to make a market for them lol.

LOL well, they are pretty damn cool. It wouldn't be crazy for a 440-powered luxo-barge to finally become "cool". I'd love to see one on Air Ride and some tasteful 20's.

My high school girlfriend's dad had one of those back in 1973, it was black with a black leather interior. He let me drive it a few times, that thing would move.

Jim Lahey approval requires that the roof be ripped off.
