No matter who you love or hate, please vote tomorrow. And day after tomorrow there will be no more jerkified ahole political ads. Yes! Imagine if they spent 1/1000th of that on actually doing good...

That occurred to me the othrr day. The candidates for Illinois governor have raised about $24 million combined. That could fix a few things.
Unfortunately I don't think I'll have time to vote. I'll be off from work for a grand total of eight hours from tonight till wednesday morning. Between kids and the need for a nap at some point there's not a lot of time left for extra curriculars before I have to be back in the shop.
I'll be at polls when they open @ 6:30am. Need to be at work at 8:00am for company wide meeting. Why did they scheduled a meeting on voting day?
Looks like I may be able to swing by our local polling station after all, directly after work, and cast my vote tomorrow morning at 6:30.
Tomorrow I need to drop my daughter off at school, pick her up at school and go back to the school for a teacher conference. Voting takes place at the building next to the school. I should be able to make my way over there.

Because they don't want you to vote.
I voted and I know the people I selected will go to Washington and make everything better.........or they will just start fund raising for the next election and go to nice parties.......
I really don't want to, but I will. It's just the same old crooks (and new crooks too!) running for office.
It's basically deciding who's not going to kick me in the balls the hardest.
I've mentioned before how much I like to watch The Good Wife...
It's about competing law firms for the most part but politics and campaining plays a large part.
I think it's accurate. It's damn ugly and there's truly the lesser of two (or several) evils.
So who can you hate the least?

for about 6 mo.
I expect the ads (in a limited fashion) to return sometime next summer … and slowly ramp up as the next 2 yr election cycle approaches
They have spent $100 million in NC for the senate race. You don't think there are some special interests at stake do you? No, me either.

I do not know why election day is not a national holiday. Voting is one of our (hard fought) rights.. we should be able to have time off to go do it
Please study at least some of the issues and research candidates beyond their - and their opponent's - ads. Then make a decision, hold your nose, and vote.
Not one candidate has ever addressed any of my biggest issues. They chase headline issues and don't care about the rights and lives of their constituents. Out of touch, rich A-holes who are only interested in helping to advance their career, influence and help their cronies. When a real candidate appears, I'll get out and vote. Until then, it will always be one jerkwad or the other, so who cares? Nothing will change in my life.

Thankfully, I have it as a holiday.
Granted, it's because the UAW wants to have more of their members voting, but the state is still pretty even. The idea is right.
One problem, though- people took yesterday as a vacation day, making the weekend at least 4 days. So how many people are voting vs. just taking the day off?
Some rants....
The cubic $$ spent. Is there really an expectation that so many millions of benefit will happen if your candidate wins? It's stunning how much is being spent. On the other hand, the media outlets are making a fortune over this. Funny how they can take sides in the news/editorial world but are more than happy to take all the money anyone wants to spend.
The ads will never end. I'm betting we will start seeing issue ads in a month. And then just after the new year, ads will be showing up for the 2016 election- not specific- but they will be there testing the waters.
Ugh.
I've gotten terribly sick of politics.
Here's a fun thought: we put all this behind us for a time and in a couple weeks you turn on the tube to catch up on your DVR collection of "The Mediocre Wife" and are slapped in the face with your archival collection of political ads.
Can't hit the FF button fast enough.....
You'll need to log in to post.
