what manual transmissions will fit my '95 Nissan Hardbody pickup?
They made the hardbody from 1986 though 97. I would think that any transmssion from a 4 cyl D-21 would fit any other 4 cyl. The only real change was from the Z-24i engine to the KA24, which was a derivative of the Z-24, which was a deriviative of the L-XX. Pretty sure 4 cylinder trans were different from 6 cyl though. But I'm not sure they won't work. I would think there would be a ton of whatever you need in the junk yards.
2wd 4 cylinder.
car-part.com was only showing me results out of 94-95 examples for some reason. I know they only show parts that are the same, not parts that will work.

torches are expensive. a $10 HF angle grinder and $5 of cutting wheels will get it done.
Sign up over at InfamousNissan.com. It's a minitruck site, so you do have to deal with that scene, but there are ALWAYS good deals on parts.
Why swap just a transmission when you can swap in a whole VQ-some number V6 with a 6-spd manual still attached?
Because the V6 was never all that much better than the KA24. A KA24DE swap would be better than a V6 swap.
SBC swaps are pretty easy into Hardbodies. If I wanted a bigger motor in a Hardbody, that's what I'd shoot for.

ummm....Quoi?
The KA24DE only ever made 155 horsepower. Granted, for a 2.4 liter, it isn't terrible, but seriuosly, a KA is better than a VQ?
for cheap powers, I would probably use a VG30i Supercharged out of a Pathfinder.
IF you have buckets of money though, A VQ37VHR from a G37 or a 370Z would provide 330ish HP. If more is needed, you can get a 4.2 liter stroker crank, as well as several turbo kits.
there are Nissan V6's in the thousand horsepower range. When was the last time you saw a KA24 making anything close to 300?
Because for a similar amount of work, you can have an LSx or SBC in there.
The Hardbody's VG30E only ever made 153HP in stock form. The Frontier's VG33ER only made 210HP in stock form.
The VQ isn't a direct swap. An LSx would likely be cheaper and a much better performer.
I would search the mini truck sites to find out whether a 240sx trans with fit. It has the right bolt pattern, but may be a different length. If not, find out if they switched the clutch setup (cable v hydraulic) or the speedometer sensor. I doubt much else is different.
If all else fails, SR20DET+240sx trans. Or RB if you like sixes.
240SX transmission fits with a different drive shaft and a hole cut in the floor for the shifter. Same clutch setup, speed sensor needs to be swapped.
RB is too long to be an easy swap. You have to relocate the radiator and you can't run AC. There are a couple RBs in Hardbodies, but the SR is a common swap.
