Any advice? I will be co-driving my friends STS MR2
locally I am a mid pack driver (on my best days) so I decided to aim high and try not to come in dead last.
Who else is going?

Not me, I'm not good enough, my car isn't prepped enough, and I don't have enough time or money. I'm hoping to at least hit a tour event next year and possibly the big show depending on my job situation, but we'll see.
Good luck, and have fun!
It's all about having fun.....(For all us folks that put our pants on one leg at a time.)
Go, make a bunch of new friends and have a blast.

Hey,
I'm off for the first time, too. I can't usually attend (since school always starts the week of the Nationals), but the altered schedule works for me this year! I will be co-driving a Turbo Miata in CSP I believe -- I'm interested to see how it all shakes down.
I'll make a T-Shirt that reads -- Hello GRM friends, my name is ZOO . . .
Nationals is the most fun I have ever had autocrossing. It's a big old party that some racing happens as well. Don't worry if your car or you are ready, it's worth it. We had someone show up in CP in 2007 with a rental Town Car. I wish I was going, been twice now but finances just were there this year. Good luck to all of you going.
I've been eight times, four as a competitor and four as crew/spectator. Like sex, it's always fun and you can learn something with every trip.
Yes, it's a big party but the competition is REALLY serious. You'll see (up close and personal) that there is a huge difference between the mindsets of local and national participants; it's obvious even if they are running on slicks, r-comps or street tires. The goal to not be DFL is realistic and achievable, so go for it.
Approach the event like a happy sponge; soak-up the camaderie, the fun and the on-course intensity. Oh, watch the weather forecast and pack for everything between freezing, baking and unpredictable amounts of water thrown into the mix.
I agree with all that's been posted. This year will be my 16th trip in a row. its a ton of fun, and I will keep going back year after year...even if I don't work here..just go and have fun...and stop by our booth and meet Alan and I..and the LeGrand and MX5 projects.
Oldsaw, what is this "weather" thing you speak of?
Per, I will definitly stop by the booth.
81cpcamaro, I think I might have met the guy responsible for that story while hanging out with dollraves...
getting pretty excited, and i won't even be racing
if ya'll need any recommendations for food or anything lmk.
We left the bay area at 7:00 pm saturday. We just arrived after driving straight through 30 hrs... no rest stops. its 3 am locally.
one interesting note, is after looking through a few of the previous years registrations I think we are the first MR2 to run in the STS class at the nationals

I am adding this to my excuse list for the next you or Andre beat me. "That's the fastest STS MR2 to ever compete at nationals." It should be good for at least one year.
Pics, ok you asked for it...

Nice pics, Cap'n. Moar please?
BTW, this car isn't as old-school as you might think. Take a look under the bonnet and you'll find a worked-over Integra twin cam.
The album links have everything I have taken so far. I am not competing until thursday / friday so I should get a chance to wander through the pits again... I will post up what I take.
I also got a chance to meet Per today... OMG I met somebody famous!!!
Hey Capt Slow -- we are close to you in the paddock -- look for the CDN flag (though maybe not today given the breeze :)).
This has been a blast so far -- everyone has been friendly, and there are some spectacular cars and drivers. I met Per and John, too -- now I can post in the "famous persons" thread.
My first run is supposed to be around 9:00 AM. But currently we are dealing with thunder and lightning. The car needed a wash after the road trip anyway.
Saw the storms on the radar this morning...can't help but wondering if those had something to do with TUR's (Jason/Craig) "God's Chariot" decals...
^You aren't there, are you Erik?
Where's Dave? Someone said he was there, but i'm not seeing any results for him yet?
Also can't find the Purple People Eater FSP Protege.
You'll need to log in to post.
