Seller's Description

$5000 or best offer. This Porsche 914 was originally purchased by the owner in the 1990s as a fuel efficiency project, and had an electric engine installed. Due to the limited range of the electric engine, in the early 2000's the owner had a 40hp Yanmar turbo diesel engine installed, set up to run on vegetable oil. In 2006, the car was entered into the NESEA Tour De Sol and won "Most Environmentally Friendly" and "Highest Mileage Bio-Fuel vehicle." Car is being sold "as is," with the proceeds donated to WSHU Public Radio.

It's been gas, electric and diesel. What's next? Sails? Pedals?

Just commenting to say: Like! Much like.

Briefly contemplates stacking cars in current, already crowded garage.  Pours another drink.  Sigh, shops for smaller house with larger garage.  devil

Though that would be fitting to the Type IV engine originally installed...and you wouldn't have to worry about it stressing the gearbox!

Think of all the battery boxes that must have rusted out when it was electric!

I've had serious thoughts about sticking a VW TDI engine trans and subframe out of a discarded New Beetle in the back of one.

In reply to Woody :

The 49 batteries you add in the trunks  are in plastic boxes, like in a boat.  When you cut the rust out of the heII hole it had when you bought it, you don't have to tack a new battery support in there when you patch it.  It sounds crazy, but converting it to electric actually makes for less rust repair and saves workyes

It is a great spot to put a drivetrain, a LOT  of brake and suspension options, a how deep is your wallet situation.  I wonder how many different motors have been swapped into that chassis.  I have seen 914-6 conversions, SBC, wankel, Subie, electric and many others.  This might actually be a good place to do the research on that

Give me one with the flat 8

Reaction engine.  Pulse jet seems appropriate.

With the obvious paint scheme of course:

Flux-capacitor, jeez.

Looks clean.  I'd buy it and put a blown Hemi in the frunk just to piss off the guy who built it.  Not driving anything, just drinking dead dinosaurs.
